RITA ON THIS DAY ⛏️

October 13, 2010 — All 33 Rescued

On this day in 2010, the world watched as the 33 miners trapped in Chile’s San José mine were brought safely back to the surface.

They had spent 69 days underground, trapped roughly 700 meters below the surface after the mine collapsed.

One by one, the miners were lifted through the narrow rescue shaft in the specially built Fénix capsule.

The operation combined engineering, international cooperation, endurance, and extraordinary patience.

And in the end, all 33 survived.

After 69 days in darkness, everyone came home.

QUICK QUIZ:
How many miners were rescued?

A) 23
B ) 33
