Eliza Gardiner is one of the foremost women printmakers from the Providence School along with Grace Albee. She graduated from RISD in 1897, went onto faculty at RISD and was a lifelong active member at the Providence Art Club. Some of her most charming works are of children from the neighborhood as in this color woodblock.
Twenty of her woodcuts are in the RISD Museum of Art Collection, Seven works are in the Moses Brown School, Fifteen works in the Providence Art Club and six works at the Newport Art Museum. She is a highly respected and revered printmaker in Rhode Island and because of her strong affiliation with the Provincetown Printmakers she enjoys a national attention as well.
