Good food, great conversation, lots of laughs, and some pretty great ’80s music. 🎶

Mosaic Quartet had such a wonderful evening with GAMMA — the Georgia Alliance of Musicians & Music Advocates. We talked music, community, collaboration, and dreamed about some exciting possibilities for the future.

GAMMA champions and celebrates music created and presented by African-American composers and performers, while working to preserve the rich musical traditions of the African Diaspora and cultivate the next generation of musicians and music advocates.

A huge thank you to GAMMA President Indra Thomas and Recording Secretary Dr. Timothy Harper for such a warm welcome, wonderful conversation, and the thoughtful gifts! 💙

We’re looking forward to what’s ahead and to finding ways for Mosaic Quartet and GAMMA to work together in the near future. 🎻✨

Throughout our Juneteenth program, we explored stories of struggle, resilience, freedom, and possibility.

“Lift Every Voice and Sing,” by James Johnson and arranged for string quartet by Kris Johnson, served as a powerful reminder of where we have been, while calling us to continue moving forward with hope and purpose.

As we reflect on the past and look toward the future, may we continue building a world where every person can be fully yours, fully free.

Happy Juneteenth.
