(SCENE) Metrospace

(SCENE) Metrospace Located in downtown East Lansing, it was founded in 2004 as a response to the “Cool Cities” initiative set forth by former Governor Granholm.

(SCENE) Metrospace was founded by the City of East Lansing in 2004, and continues to be operated by the Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University. (SCENE) Metrospace has maintained a diverse range of visual art exhibitions, musical performances, and other forms of expression since it’s opening. In 2015 the City of East Lansing and Michigan State University joined forc

es to program and operate the space. (SCENE) Metrospace hosts 6-week themed exhibitions featuring work by contemporary artists. (SCENE) Metrospace is free and open to the public, with the exception of some special programing. The gallery is handicap accessible and offers 1,500 square feet of raw exhibition space in a contemporary urban setting. During Exhibitions (SCENE) Metrospace maintains the following hours:

Congratulations to all the recipients of the Juror’s Choice Awards for the 2026 Undergraduate Exhibition! Meet our juror: Mark Joshua Epstein

We’re excited to welcome Mark Joshua Epstein as the juror for the Michigan Pride Juried Exhibition at SCENE Metrospace. He received his MFA from the Slade School of Fine Arts, University College London, UK, and his BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and Tufts University.

His work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, with solo and two-person shows at Matéria Gallery, Asya Geisberg Gallery, and Turley Gallery, among others. He has also participated in residencies, including the Sharpe Walentas Studio Program and the British School at Rome. His work has been featured in publications such as Hyperallergic and New American Paintings, and he is a recipient of a 2024/2025 Po***ck Krasner Foundation grant.
