to better understand the physics of nuclei, nuclear astrophysics, fundamental interactions, and applications for society, including in medicine, homeland security, and industry. User facility operation is supported by the DOE-SC Office of Nuclear Physics as one of 28 DOE-SC user facilities.

FRIB, in collaboration with Argonne National Laboratory, has been named a U.S. Genesis Mission awardee to develop AI-powered digital twins for heavy-ion accelerators and isotope separators.

The project will combine artificial intelligence with physics-based models to improve accelerator operations, enhance rare-isotope production, and expand scientific opportunities for researchers at FRIB and beyond.
