Plein Air Pop Up

JRAC is having a pop-up art show on September 4th and 5th showcasing the work done in the Plein Air Painting and Sketchbook Groups this summer.

Unframed art can be dropped off on September 3rd and picked up on the 7th.
Please take this opportunity to show the community what we’ve been up to.

JRAC’s gift shop is open during exhibits, featuring quality art supplies, craft kits, puzzles, books, jewelry, and other artisan-made gifts for all ages. New inventory includes pocket pillows by Dawn Swaim, Forgotten Faiery by Linda Salinas, and pottery by Daphne Bergman. Greeting cards featuring local sites, flora, and fauna are also available.

Whether you need a gift for your host, a card for a special occasion, or a little something special for yourself, JRAC’s gift shop is full of lovely locally-crafted items!

See the Roots exhibit before it leaves Aug. 29!

Roots explores the concept of connection in both literal and figurative forms. From natural landscapes and organic forms to personal history, ancestry, and cultural identity, the exhibition presents a wide range of interpretations. Visitors can expect a dynamic mix of mediums, including painting, mixed media, and immersive works, along with interactive elements that invite participation and deeper engagement. The exhibition features work by a diverse group of artists, each bringing a unique perspective to the theme.

JRAC is open 12:30-4:30 daily, and is located at 301 Main St. downtown East Jordan.

Call to Artists: Small Expressions

Small in scale, rich in detail, Small Expressions is a fiber exhibition focused on the power of compact work. Featuring pieces no larger than 1728 square inches, the show highlights how texture, technique, and concept can converge within an intimate format.

This exhibition celebrates the quiet strength of small-scale fiber art—stitched stories, woven ideas, and tactile moments that invite close looking and thoughtful reflection. From traditional practices to experimental approaches, the works in Small Expressions demonstrate how even the smallest pieces can speak volumes.

The JRAC Plein Air group will meet Providence Farm Market Tues. Sept. 1 9 a.m. - noon.

All media and experience levels are welcome. No instruction will be given—just camaraderie and encouragement! Please bring your own painting supplies. Plein Air venues will rotate between Antrim, Charlevoix and Emmet Counties.

RSVP to [email protected] are preferred, but not necessary. Please forward this to friends potentially interested in joining us.
