Happy Spring, folks!

We're closed today so I can teach a fun workshop in the basics of the B&W darkroom. Is that something you'd like to try? I'm working on scheduling another soon.

We've got two different workshops coming up in the cyanotype process. What's a cyanotype? The cyanotype is a highly popular alternative photographic process invented in 1842 by John Hershel. It is characterized by its prussian blue look and uncomplicated technique.

Cyanotype Variations is a 2-day class on April 11 & 12 and will introduce the variations of the traditional cyanotype process, which includes toning, printing on fabric, and creating multi-process prints incorporating standard cyanotype chemistry with other modes of alternative process printing.

Wet Cyanotypes—A Summer Solstice Celebration is a half-day workshop on June 20. Participants will combine traditional cyanotype printing with the “wet” technique—incorporating elements like natural pigments and additives and organic textures to create unique designs. We’ll use fresh plants, flowers, and leaves, paying homage to the abundance of nature on the longest day of the year.
