The Greenwich Odeum is an intimate venue where every seat is excellent. Our theater is situated on a quaint Norman Rockwell-esque Main Street, in a very safe area with a dozen (or more) nearby pre- and post-theater bars and restaurants. For the last 90 years, The Greenwich Odeum (originally the Greenwich Theatre) has stood proudly as an arts and entertainment ve

nue. Built in 1926, at the end of vaudeville’s heyday, The Greenwich Theatre originally played host to silent films and live performers eventually providing solely film based entertainment to patrons for over six decades. Due to changing consumer interests, The Greenwich Theatre closed its doors as a single screen movie theater in 1990, re-emerging in 1994 as The Greenwich Odeum, a volunteer run, non-profit performing arts venue. With several seasons of successes and many seasons of closure due to lack of funding, The Greenwich Odeum failed to find the right footing to make the operation sustainable. A sizable grant from the Champlin Foundations in 2011, along with a considerable amount of determination from community volunteers, provided the necessary boost to allow the Greenwich Odeum to once again provide quality arts and entertainment to the area. Thanks to an invigorated band of volunteers, the generosity of grant giving bodies and the support of its patrons, the theater today finds itself thriving.

🎼Three-time GRAMMY Award winner Shawn Colvin has been a vital voice in music for over 30 years, releasing thirteen superlative albums and establishing herself as one of America’s most revered songwriters and performers.

📀 In 1996 the song “Sunny Came Home”, from the LP A Few Small Repairs, gave Colvin a Top 10 hit, a platinum-selling album and two of GRAMMY’s biggest honors: Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

🏆 Colvin was recognized for her career accomplishments in 2016 when she was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Trailblazer Award by the Americana Music Association. In September 2019 she was inducted into the 2019 Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, alongside legendary artists Lyle Lovett and Buddy Guy. Shawn continues to tour globally, while working on an album of new music.

🎬 As part of the Greenwich Odeum’s Centennial Celebration, we present The Poseidon Adventure, a cornerstone of the past 100 years of filmmaking. The evening is hosted by Steven Feinberg, the Executive Director of the Rhode Island TV & Film office, who provides a brief perspective on the film’s history, influence, and enduring relevance. Experience a century of cinema through one of its most unforgettable works.

🚢 The Poseidon Adventure is a gripping disaster epic built around survival, courage, and the struggle to endure against overwhelming odds. Set aboard a luxury ocean liner overturned by a massive rogue wave on New Year’s Eve, the film follows a small band of survivors who defy the ship’s upside-down labyrinth in a desperate attempt to reach safety. Led by the determined Reverend Frank Scott, the group must navigate flooded corridors, collapsing structures, and rising panic, each step testing their resolve and faith in one another. Directed by Ronald Neame and featuring standout performances from Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, and Shelley Winters, the film blends suspense, spectacle, and human drama into a relentless ascent toward survival. A landmark of 1970s disaster cinema that captures both the terror and resilience of people pushed to their limits.

Sexton is a songwriter’s songwriter, with a multi-octave voice that knows no bounds. Acoustic Guitar Magazine calls him a: “Master of dynamics, reducing a room to silence with his blustering baritone, then teasing that silence with a fluttering falsetto.”
