SDSE Story

The Sound Dunes Swing Ensemble (SDSE) is a Cape Cod – based “Big Band” that features the music of the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s. We thoroughly enjoy playing and singing the songs made famous by such bandleaders as Glen Miller, Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Benny Goodman, Harry James, Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, and others. While we showcase the music of this great period, our reperto

ire also includes contemporary pieces from “The Great American Songbook”. The original music library for The Sound Dunes was donated by Gabriel Gouveia, former Bandleader of the Boston-based big band, The Comeback Kids. We are very grateful to Gabriel for this important contribution to the success of The Sound Dunes. We continue to add to our library based on customer suggestions and band member inputs

SDSE consists of 17 amateur and professional instrumentalists and includes both female and male vocalists. The instrumental make up of the band typically includes:
4 Trumpets
3 Trombones
3 Alto Saxophones
2 Tenor Saxophones
1 Baritone Sax
1 Keyboard
1 Guitar
1 Bass
1 Percussionist

The Sound Dunes has performed in concert, dance, and dinner dance venues. On occasion we have invited guest performers, both singing groups and ballroom dance teams to join us, providing for an even more enjoyable musical experience. We also incorporate versions of “Name That Tune” and Oldies Trivia, SDSE Style, to further engage our audiences for a fun filled afternoon or evening event.

TAPS ACROSS AMERICA

As we draw closer to Memorial Day, we pause as a nation—not for a long weekend, but for a solemn reminder of the cost of our freedom.

On Monday, May 25, 2026, at 3:00 PM local time, join us for Taps Across America 2026 as musicians and citizens across the country come together in one powerful act of remembrance.

250 Years. 24 Notes. One Nation.

Each of the 24 notes of Taps carries the weight of sacrifice, echoing across cemeteries, front porches, memorials, parks, and hearts alike. It is a final salute. A sacred promise. A moment that says:

You are remembered. You mattered. Your sacrifice will not be forgotten.

Whether you play bugle, trumpet, trombone, flute, saxophone, violin, drums, or simply wish to stand in quiet reflection—you belong in this moment.

Join us in honoring those who gave all.
