We are excited to introduce you to our newest teacher here at Sing, Nick Monteiro! check out the video below!

Nick Monteiro has lived in the Treasure Valley for fifteen years. A staple of the Boise music scene, he has been performing professionally as both a jazz and classical pianist for 6 years. He received his bachelor’s degree in piano performance from Northwest Nazarene University. He also studied songwriting in Nashville.

Though he loves performing, Nick feels a special call to teaching. He has a vibrant teaching studio and is also called upon regularly as a guest teacher at jazz festivals and camps around the valley.

Nick lives in Nampa with his wife Meghan, who also shares Nick’s passion for music and education.

Nick is taking piano students of all ages, all ability levels, and all genres! His first priority is to help kids develop a love for music.

ARE YOU A CREATIVE MUSICIAN LIVING IN QUIET DESPERATION?

If so, keep reading:

Recently after one of my performances a woman came up to me and we had a conversation I have not been able to stop thinking about.

She complimented my music and then after some small talk I saw her eyes get desperate. I felt like she was about to cry. She said, "you have to help me. I don't know what to do. I NEED music in my life. It used to be everything to me. And now I feel stuck in a job that doesn't nurture me creatively. I'm not getting gigs and I don't know what to do."

This is actually a conversation I have regularly. I know her situation is pretty common. In fact, I used to feel exactly the same way.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO TAKE YOUR LIFE IN MUSIC BACK.

I used to feel like this too.

Everything changed for me once I started making music on my own terms. This was in my mid 30's. Since that time I have helped hundreds of young people create a fulfilling life in music. And now I want to help adults as well.

If you are a songwriter or jazz musician over the age of 18, if you feel like you have the talent, you have the love for music, but you are just not sure what to do about it, I can help you.

You don't need an expensive music degree.

You don't need to learn more "music theory". (For some reason everyone I talk to thinks that is the problem. That's not the problem.)

You just need to develop 5 habits. Anytime a student develops these 5 habits, I know their life in music is going to be fulfilling.

If you want to learn more about this, there are 2 things you can do.

(1) I have created a summer camp for adults. I am only accepting 6 participants. You can find out more about the camp here:

https://www.justinnielsenmusic.net/summer-seminar-for-adults

(2) If time or money are a barrier to you, please send me an e-mail at [email protected]. Tell me about yourself and your music. I may be able to send you some advice that could get you started.

Take your life in music back!

I'm going to name Charlie Johnson as the "Student of the Month" at Sing Music Academy this month. In response to the quarantine he has really put his head down and worked hard on writing and recording his music. He is a student who we have always been able to count on to do what he needs to do. And he writes great songs! This song was written by Charlie. It also features Jens Jensen and Emma Young on vocals, Carter Nielsen on guitar, and Bridger Aston on piano.

Performed by the band "The Originals" Written by Charlie Johnson. Also featuring Jens Jensen and Emma Young on vocals, Carter Nielsen on guitar, and Bridger Aston on piano.
