Meet Signature Artist Mary Corp.

For Mary, painting outdoors is a way of immersing herself completely in her subject. She loves exploring new places, meeting new people, traveling the backroads, and searching for landscapes and creatures that spark an idea for a new painting.

She has participated in plein air events throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Utah, and her adventurous spirit continues to take her farther afield.

Nature’s constant changes keep her work spontaneous and fresh. She describes the outdoors as a place of both silence and solitude and moments of vibrance and joy.

Cynthia Underwood is an award-winning landscape and wildlife artist whose love of the outdoors has taken her across the country in pursuit of subjects to paint. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, and raised partly in Oklahoma and Texas, Cynthia now calls Star, Idaho, home.

An avid outdoor enthusiast, she travels extensively to paint and finds inspiration not only in the landscape but also in animals and wildlife. She works in three mediums—pastel, oil, and acrylic—using each to explore the beauty and character of the natural world.

Meet Signature Artist Peggy Akovenko

For 35 years, she worked as an early-education teacher, helping young children discover their own creativity. Retirement finally gave Peggy the opportunity to devote more time to her own artistic journey—and especially to plein air painting.

Today, she finds inspiration in both grand Idaho landscapes and quiet everyday scenes. Whether standing along a riverbank or painting a familiar Idaho street, her goal is to create artwork that feels alive and captures the emotion of a particular moment.

Meet Signature Artist Chieshenam Westin.
A longtime member of the Plein Air Painters of Idaho (PAPI), Chi E Shenam has spent more than a decade painting throughout Boise and the Treasure Valley. His work is not only a celebration of the landscape, but also a record of places and moments that are changing over time. Among his memorable subjects were the stables at Les Bois Park racetrack, which he painted before they were demolished and lost to memory.
