A lot of people tell me they'd like to travel somewhere like Iceland but aren't sure about the camera side of it. You don't need to be good at it.

After our Cuba trip, Joe Slavec thanked me for being patient while teaching someone who wasn't proficient with cameras. That meant a lot to me, because it's the part of guiding I enjoy most.

Ken Weismann from Carlsbad, CA, said this about our summer 2021 Iceland tour:

"I give the summer 2021 Iceland Tour 5 stars."

Iceland 2027 is 11 days, with Mike and me guiding the whole way. Tour 1 is June 18-28 and Tour 2 is June 30-July 10, with a maximum of 10 people per group.

The early booking price is $6,095 per person ($6,495 regular) with the $1,000 deposit paid by November 15, 2026.

Update 10/9/26: Tour #1 is full and we are taking reservations for the second dates.

I'm going back to Iceland in June 2027, and I'd love for some of you to think about joining me.

Mike and I guide the whole way, 11 days. Groups are capped at 10, and once a tour is full we start a waitlist.

Tour 1: June 18-28 (full)
Tour 2: June 30-July 10 (10 spots open)

We'll see waterfalls, puffins on the Westman Islands, a glacier and Diamond Beach, and we'll go inside an ice cave. There's also whale watching, a horseback ride, and Forest Lagoon. I'll help with your photography at any level, whether you shoot with a phone or a pro camera.

The price is $6,495 per person, double occupancy. It's $6,095 if your $1,000 deposit is paid by November 15, 2026. The single supplement is $550.

It's been a few weeks since I finished my season as a guest lecturer with Princess Cruises and I've spent almost every day since guiding photographers in Southcentral Alaska. Whether we're chasing colorful landscapes, moose, or auroras, fall is a busy time for local tours. I had the privilege of spending a couple days with one of the most impressive bulls around recently while guiding for Alaska Photo Treks, along with his harem of cows and a couple smaller bulls who dared to get too close, only to be chased off!

This is my eighth time in Glacier Bay this season with Princess Cruises and all but one or two of those days have been sunny. It’s a beautiful place in any kind of weather, but I can’t complain about the abundant blue skies! This is also the second time we’ve been able to enter Johns Hopkins Inlet. I’ll be back one more time aboard the Island Princess in a couple weeks and we’ll see what the day brings…

Happy Hump(back) Day!

I left the rain & wind in Anchorage yesterday and landed in Juneau, where the sun was shining and the seas were calm - perfect for an afternoon whale watching cruise with Harv and Marv's Outback Alaska. We had an epic day on the water and while I was hoping to witness the humpback bubblenet feeding technique, we instead were treated to a few beautiful breaches. I've witnessed breaching whales a few times previously, and it's hard to top watching a 40-ton animal launch itself out of the water!

This is my last voyage on the Grand Princess this season as a guest lecturer with Princess Cruises and I will certainly be adding these to my presentation tomorrow! I have 3 more voyages beginning next week on both the Island and Royal before my season draws to a close. It's been an honor to share my story and my images with the passengers, and I've been able to take advantage of local excursions like this.

Another sunny day here in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska! This is my seventh time here this season as a guest lecturer with Princess Cruises and we’ve continuously lucked out with great weather. I’ll be back in two weeks, once again on the Grand Princess. Fingers crossed for another day like this!

What an adventure I had recently while guiding a photographer on a doors-off helio tour of Knik Glacier with Outbound Heli Adventures

The weather was so nice we were able to fly over the Chugach mountains and land on a ridge above Prince William Sound! The pilot hadn’t taken the R44 to 10,000 feet before. No doors, just the open air and the sound of the rotors…

Harvard Glacier sure was active last week!

I've been to the face of this glacier at the end of College Fjord, Prince William Sound, seven times so far this year. It's been releasing consistently in recent weeks, but last week was by far the most calving I've witnessed.

It helped to have such great weather and was an exciting show for the passengers aboard the Grand Princess! I will be on new routes aboard two new vessels this coming week, so please stay tuned...

This is my 6th voyage as a guest lecturer with Princess Cruises and definitely the sunniest and calmest day I’ve had in Glacier Bay so far. What an incredible experience for the passengers!
