FRENCH MILITARY SOURCE: SECRET RETALIATION AGAINST RUSSIA “IS ALREADY HAPPENING”

France may already be conducting undisclosed conventional military operations in response to Russia’s hybrid attacks, according to an anonymous French military source quoted by Le Monde.

The source was asked whether Paris could retaliate militarily against Russia without publicly announcing the operation.

The response consisted of four words:

“That is already happening.”

It is an extraordinary admission—but also a deliberately vague one. The source did not reveal what operations are being conducted, where they are occurring or which French military and intelligence units may be involved.

The statement does not confirm that French troops are directly attacking Russian forces or operating inside Russia. Covert conventional retaliation could include intelligence and targeting support, electronic warfare, disruption of Russian military networks or other deniable operations conducted alongside Ukraine and NATO partners.

Some of the infrastructure behind Ukraine’s long-range campaign is already becoming visible. French company Safran has confirmed that its technology is used in the guidance system of Ukraine’s FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile. Le Monde also noted that many Ukrainian deep strikes would be extremely difficult without Western satellite imagery and intelligence support.

The disclosure comes as France confronts an expanding campaign of suspected Russian sabotage, cyberattacks, disinformation and interference across Europe. President Emmanuel Macron warned that the nature of Russia’s aggression is changing and that attacks previously concentrated against government or military targets could increasingly place civilians in danger.

For years, Moscow has attempted to operate below the threshold of open war—striking European interests while relying upon secrecy, proxies and plausible deniability to avoid a conventional response.

The French source’s answer suggests that Europe may now be responding in the same shadows.

Russia’s hybrid war may no longer be a one-way battlefield. France is not explaining what it is doing—and that may be precisely the point.

“YOU TOLD US THAT A YEAR AGO”—KUSHNER CHALLENGES PUTIN’S LATEST DONBAS PROMISE

Vladimir Putin told US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner that Russian forces would capture the remainder of Ukraine’s Donbas within several months, according to The New York Times.

Putin also reportedly threatened powerful attacks against Ukraine’s energy system, attempting to place the prospect of another brutal winter at the center of negotiations.

Kushner challenged him directly:

“With all due respect, you told us exactly that a year ago. What are the chances that we come back here in another year and you are again saying the same thing? Maybe we don’t waste a year?”

The exchange reportedly occurred during the envoys’ September 5 meeting with Putin in Moscow. It was described to the newspaper by a person familiar with the talks and a US official; it is not taken from a publicly released transcript.

Putin has repeatedly presented the complete seizure of Donetsk and the wider Donbas as inevitable. Yet Russia has spent years, enormous quantities of equipment and hundreds of thousands of casualties trying to accomplish what the Kremlin continues to promise can be completed within months.

The threat against Ukraine’s energy sector also reveals how Putin approaches negotiations. Instead of offering a meaningful ceasefire, he points toward further destruction and civilian suffering as leverage—hoping winter will achieve what the Russian Army has failed to accomplish on the battlefield.

Kushner’s question exposed the central weakness in Putin’s argument: if Russian victory is always only a few months away, why has the same promise been repeated year after year?

🇺🇦 “We are interested in Serbia being closer to the EU than to Russia,” — Zelenskyy

Ukraine is interested in Serbia’s European integration and is ready to develop partnership and good-neighborly relations with the country, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during the C8 summit.

At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that Serbia’s geopolitical choice remains a decision of the Serbian people.

💬 “This is serious work. Of course, this is a choice within Serbia, a choice of the Serbian people. But we must be partners in order to demonstrate real, good, neighborly relations,” — Zelenskyy said.

According to the President, regardless of having a common border, all European countries remain neighbors and should build practical cooperation.
