Featured Fiber Friday and a couple announcements!

First up, our pick for today's Featured Fiber Friday is Knitting for Olive Pure Silk. Made of 100% Bourette Silk, which is a essentially a waste product from silk processing, this yarn makes beautifully soft, lightweight, cool garments, perfect for our recent and upcoming weather.

With 273 yards of fi*****ng weight yarn in each ball, many of our staff and customers love to hold this yarn double to mimic DK weight yarn and quickly whip up garments and accessories. We carry 20 different colors of this line, with a little bit of everything for everyone, whether you like it bright or more demure

For shop announcements, due to slower traffic in July, we will be moving to only being OPEN 10-3 on Tuesdays, 10-8 on Thursdays, and 10-3 on Saturdays. Stitch and spin groups will still run as normal. So that means we will be CLOSED on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, as well as our normal Sundays

We will also be CLOSED on Saturday, July 4th, to observe Independence Day

It's a beautiful Featured Fiber Friday! Today, we're taking a look at an often overlooked yarn at the shop: Tonos Pima Silk Hand Paint by Misti Alpaca

If you think you're not a cotton fan, you should definitely give pima cotton a try. It tends to have a softer, more luxurious and plush feel to it than even your softer standard cottons. Then blend it with 17% silk? Decadent and perfect for that summer top pattern you've been eyeing without being too delicate

It's DK weight which makes it perfect for hundreds of lightweight patterns, while being a heavy enough yarn to not take forever to work up. Each skein has about 327 yards to it, making it easy to make a project out of 2-3 skeins. Plus those colors? Stunning and screaming summer for any color preference

Bonus points: Misti Alpaca is a family-owned company based out of Peru. They take great pride in producing beautifully soft and gorgeous yarns

Thinking about your knitted/crocheted summer wardrobe and how to keep it fresh? Pick up some of our new locally-made fiber wash from Sweater Spa. It's lanolin-free and made of gentle ingredients, which makes it perfect for washing both animal fiber and plant fiber garments and accessories. Plus it's safe for anyone allergic to lanolin/wool. And it's rinse-free, making it a breeze to use. We have 5 different scents, including an unscented (don't worry scent-avoidant/allergic folks, we got you!). The Pacific NW scent has been a favorite across the shop staff so far

We wanted to share the "results" of the yarn swap as well as the dates of some shop closures

With a HUGE amount of help from you all, we were able to donate NINE moving bags worth of yarn, needles, and notions to Sno-Valley Senior Center. For those wondering, it was around 80lbs of yarn! They were very excited about the community support. For the midwives, we were able to donate 2.5 moving bags worth of baby soft yarn and needles which they will also be very excited about. Thank you again to everyone who was able to make it and to those who missed it, there will most certainly be another one in the future!

The fun doesn't stop there. We will be at Fiber Fusion this weekend in Monroe, at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds! Due to our being there and to the disruptions caused by Duvall Days, the physical shop will be closed on Saturday 6/6. We will also be closed Monday 6/8 to give us a chance to restock the shop and rest a little. We will be open our normal hours, including stitch group on Tuesday 6/9. We hope to see you all at Fiber Fusion this weekend!

Last little thing: we did just recently receive orders of ITO (look at that Sensai rainbow 😍) as well as Juniper Moon Cotton+Merino (including a shipment of the sparkly Chic line). So stop by today or tomorrow if you're in need. We will only be bringing a small selection of yarn to Fiber Fusion, as a heads up, as our space will not allow more

We're open tonight until 8pm, with stitch group from 5-8. A recent question we've received a lot is if people can shop during stitch group and the answer is YES! The shop is still open and there will be someone who can help you if you need it. We'll also be open tomorrow from 10am-3pm. We hope to see you soon!

WOW y'all! We just opened and we already have SO MUCH YARN! You all are so generous. We also already have almost full donation boxes but don't worry, we have more boxes and bags for donation yarn

Bring by your excess stash and shop new-to-you yarn today, from 10-3. Reminder that there are a couple rules: yarn must be in a complete ball/hank/skein with a label and be clean and free from strong odors (not counting lanolin). For more details and FAQ, check out our blog on the website!

Happy Featured Fiber Friday! Today's featured fiber is an excellent cross-season blend from the beloved Blue Sky Fibers: Sweater!

A blend of 55% superwash wool and 45% certified organic cotton, this soft but durable yarn is great for all kinds of projects, from blankets to it's namesake garment, the sweater! It was used to make the adorable, pictured chicken bag which is just too dang cute and even better, it will hold up for a long time and be easy to clean. It's easier to work with than plain cotton but has a greater utility than just plain wool. The best of both worlds!

BSF Sweater is worsted weight with 160 yards per skein and is machine washable for easy care. It also comes in a rainbow of gorgeous colors, many of which we carry. Don't see one you love? Just ask and we'll special order it for you!

We also were finally able to restock our supply of Majacraft bobbins so if you're running low, swing on by to pick some up

We're also having a COMMUNITY YARN SWAP on Saturday 5/30. Please clean out your stash and bring it share. As well, if you have yarn that is soft enough for babies in DK or Worsted, extra size 8 circulars, stitch markers or other notions that you can donate to a customer who teachers African midwives how to knit, it would be much appreciated as well! Featured Fiber Friday and a couple of announcements

For Featured Fiber Friday, we have a whole RAINBOW🌈 of Zooey by Juniper Moon Farms. A staff and customer favorite for warmer weather, this 60% Cotton, 40% Linen blend comes in a wide array of colors, is lovely to knit with and softens beautifully after being washed.

Easy care and in all our favorite colors? Yes, please! Pssst, there's a rumor going around that Zooey may be part of a July knit-a-long 👀🤫

Next weekend is also our COMMUNITY YARN SWAP! Might want to start going through your stash on this long weekend. If you can't make the swap but would still like to donate to either the African midwives or Sno-Valley Senior Center, feel free to drop off yarn with us sometime today or this coming week and we'll make sure it gets to where it's meant to go. Please check out our website as there are some rules, requests, and restrictions

Last thing, we will be OPEN on Memorial Day - Monday 5/25. So if you can't normally make it to the shop and you're in need or want of fiber, yarn, or notions, we'll be open to help you out

Our spindles from One Home Crafts, both supported and drop, are restocked! We also have bowls for supported spindles as well, which now have cork on the bottom to prevent slipping

Reminder, we still have some space in our drop spindle class on Saturday with Barbara. Pre-registration is required, call the shop or come in to register

We also have our first ever COMMUNITY YARN SWAP coming on Saturday 5/30! Clean out your stash and bring your under/unloved yarns and spinning fiber into the shop for swapping. All yarn left behind will be donated to Sno-Valley Senior Center. Reminder that only full skeins with labels stating fiber content are eligible for swap. We're also collecting soft worsted or DK weight yarn for a customer who teaches midwives in Africa how to knit! For more details, please see our website in our bio
