How lucky are we to close out the season with a SQUARE DANCE?

Sunday March 8, 5pm-9pm, $10-$20 sliding scale tickets (Kids under 12 are free!)
One ticket will get you into both dances.

Family Square Dance, 5-6pm. Slower-paced, for kiddos and their adults. Expect lots of easy moves and a rice-crispy styled cake walk. Featuring music by The Hodge Podge String Band.

Big Square Dance, 7-9pm. Faster-paced, for anyone out for an adventure. Expect some easy moves, some silly moves, a good time for anyone, and a cake walk "for adults". Featuring music by The Lucky Strike Outs: Mike DeVito, Hasee Ciaccio, Vivian Leva, and Aaron Tacke. The caller will be Nancy Mamlin for both dances.

Kicking off the last week of programming at Bay 7 is TRANSYLVANIAN DANCE, presented by Lucian Ban and Mat Maneri.

Drawing on material from their albums Transylvanian Dance and Transylvanian Folk Songs, Lucian Ban and Mat Maneri present an evening of work based on Béla Bartók’s field recordings in Transylvania at the beginning of 20th century. Featuring video projections of rare archival videos & photographs that Bartók himself took in his research trips (courtesy of Bartók Archives in Budapest), along with audio from the original wax cylinder recordings.

Nicole Mitchell Gantt is an award-winning creative flutist, composer, conceptualist, bandleader and educator. A United States Artist (2020), a Doris Duke Artist (2012), and a recipient of the Herb Alpert Award (2011) her research centers on the powerful legacy of contemporary African American culture and black experimental art.

Fred L. Joiner is a poet and curator based in Carrboro, NC. His work has been published in various journals, anthologies, art catalogs, and he has presented his work nationally and internationally.

Perry Menestres and Big Band are coming to Live at Bay 7 this SUNDAY at 6pm!

David Menestres and Jordan Perry are instrumentalists/ composers/improvisers loosely located in the mid atlantic. Their paths have been colliding for several years through various shared bills and social engagements. In their first performed collaboration, Perry and Menestres will cull artists with whom they've individually worked over the years to sonically survey the space of Bay 7.
