Share your family story with UNC-TV and PBS Family Picture USA in Rocky Mount and Durham over two consecutive Saturdays, November 10 and 17, respectively, providing opportunities to share personal photographs and stories with the show producers. Participants’ photos will be digitized, and stories will be recorded to video, with select ones featured in the final episodes, premiering on PBS in 2019.

Visit unctv.org/familypicturesusa for more information or just sign up (make sure to list Hayti, when asked "Where did you learn about us?"). Producers will notify potential participants about scheduling a photo-sharing session. Participants will receive a personalized thumb drive of their digitized images.

Family Pictures USA, a new national PBS series hosted by Thomas Allen Harris and stars everyday people and their photos.

The first Bull Durham Blues Festival took place in 1988 at the historic Durham Athletic Park.

Blues Women – is a multi-discipline program combining music, film, movement and song, while exploring six dynamic blues women that shaped American music. Bessie Smith, Ida Cox, Dinah Washington, Alberta Hunter, Billie Holiday and Mamie Smith will come alive as Lenora and live trio of musicians perform their songs and tell their stories in this interactive, audience participatory experience. The film installation, created by filmmaker Lana Garland, consists of archival and present day footage which interweaves with the live performance, tracing the contributions of these great women in contemporary music from then to now. Using the genres of Blues, Gospel, Jazz, R&B, Pop, and Hip-Hop, this presentation is suitable for all ages.
