Here it is! I told you my residency at Provincetown Art Association and Museum was productive!

This commissioned HOOPLA wearable sculpture is designed to transform into four different looks. I’m still finishing the final transformation, but I’ll keep you in the loop!

The magnetic flowers are made from salvaged plastic drop cloths, giving discarded materials a whole new life.

I’m obsessed with how alive this piece feels!
What do you think?

Prototype: DONE ✨

Never wired. Never soldered.
Now I can do both ⚡️

Three full restarts.
Lots of help.
A lot of learning.

Build sheet is finished ✔️
Final commission build sheet in progress.

And I’m not gatekeeping any of it—
It’s all on Patreon.

Do not shrink so people around you can feel more comfortable.

Ever wonder how 197, a HOOPLA signature piece, gets moved?
It’s awkward, goofy and a bit noisy!
And it couldn’t be done without a bit of help! Shout out to my brother (and HOOPLA patron) for driving two hours just to help me put this signature work back in storage.

ABOUT 197, THE WEARABLE SCULPTURE:

This work is rebellion-
a response to a article warning that 197 words might cost you your funding.
Words like diversity, equity, inclusion.
Words that name who we are, what we’ve lived, what we dream.
Part of the HOOPLA collection, this hoopskirt carries those very words— printed on 197 recycled cans,
each one clinking softly like a warning.
Like a prayer.

ABOUT 197, THE PORTRAIT:

💫 Modeled by Janae White —a friend of the artist—
this isn’t just a portrait.
It’s a moment. A breath.
Where language becomes visible.
Becomes heavy.
Becomes armor.

This portrait asks:
What happens when our truths are labeled “unacceptable”?
When words meant to heal are treated like threats?
It’s a love letter to those 197 terms.
A shield made of everything they told us not to say.
A celebration of the power we carry in our mouths—even when they try to quiet us.
Some pictures say more than a thousand words.
This one dares to hold 197—
and every life they tried to silence.
Because when they say hush…
we HOOPLA.

Friendly reminder that art does not require us to KNOW, it only asks us to DO. ✨
I’m an internationally published multidisciplinary artist, and I am self taught in all things. 💜
I didn’t know how to sew when HOOPLA was born- I’m figuring it out as I go. 🤷‍♀️
When a concept claims an artist it is our responsibility to listen and serve, to bring it to life.
I’m grateful HOOPLA chose me and it’s been an honor to watch you resonate with the message of taking up space and getting LOUD about it. 🙏

Flower experimentation for an upcoming commission 🌹
Made from salvaged polyester scrim — the leftover adhesive creates a natural “dew” effect.

Closing Reception — THIS Friday, March 2 💜

I’ve been working round the clock to finish a brand-new HOOPLA wearable sculpture for its debut.
Wire trees by my mom (a wire artist), leaves from soda cans, skirt from reclaimed curtains + salvaged painter’s cloth.
One more tree to leaf — then it comes to life.
See it in person Friday, 6–9 PM at Golden Belt Campus.

Take up space.
Make some HOOPLA. ✨

Experimenting with a new hoop material… and learning a LOT in the process.

PEX Pipe vs. Steel Boning — who wins?

Pros:
✔️ Stronger
✔️ Cheaper
Cons:
✖️ Takes longer to prep
✖️ Not as discreet under fabric

Sometimes innovation is glamorous.
Sometimes it’s wrestling plastic tubing on your studio floor.

Stay tuned to see what this hoopskirt transforms into 👀

And as always…
Take up space and SKIRT the issues. 💜✨
