The Venue:
Begun in 2012 as a dusty drippy open mic, this Durham venue really is in the upstairs room of a beloved local seafood restaurant. It smells faintly of fish and leaks when it rains. It feels just like a New York Comedy Club! The Mic
We proudly host our open mic every Saturday at 9 with sign up at 8:30. No need to contact us in advance, no need to have any experience at all, no need to plan on doing comedy ever again. If you put your name on the list, you get to go on stage. This mic is hosted by the painfully sweet and enigmatic Tristan Dufresne. We can't give you your money back if no one laughs. The Showcase
The FIRST SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH is the ComedyMongers Showcase. Hosted by ComedyMongers founder Deborah Aronin, the showcase is just a ridiculous amount of fun. Deb has only the best and always has someone new. A room with a seating capacity of 60 has had 70 crammed in to hear what honestly can only be described as tear streaming gut busting laughter. That makes it sound kind of gross, doesn't it? It isn't gross. OK well sometimes the comedians are gross, but they're comedians, get off their back. I mean this is why they moved out of their mom's basement. They're 33 and trying to follow their dreams and.. wait, where am I? Oh yeah, showcase. With over 20 successful showcases in a row. We don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Oh yeah, and it's FREE!
