🎸 Meet Rashed.
If you ask Rashed to pick his favorite song from the Local Vocals setlist, he doesn't exactly phone it in.

His choice? “Foxy Lady” by Jimi Hendrix.

And when we asked him why, he had a pretty straightforward explanation: “I kind of, you know, I like to think that he was a manifestation of God.”

😂

Honestly, that tracks.

Rashed picked up the guitar in Bangladesh in the early ’90s, taking lessons from a guitarist who had played for one of the country’s early pop stars. After moving to the U.S., he kept pushing himself on the guitar, eventually forming his first band and continuing to write, record, and perform original music.

These days, you can also find him making wonderfully weird, psychedelic art rock with Harlem Insect Laws, a Durham power trio that sounds about as far from “just playing some cover songs” as you can get.

And somewhere along the way, Rashed also became a connoisseur of two of life's great pursuits: coffee and b**r.

So yeah. Hendrix makes sense.

🎸 MEET THE BAND: IT'S CHUCK!

You know Chuck. He plays bass. He keeps the low end doing all the things it's supposed to do. He is unfailingly kind.

But then you start getting to know Chuck and realize...

Wait. What ELSE does this guy do? 😂

He's a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard, a writer, editor, producer, and Grammy-considered songwriter. He's been rocking on bass since the '90s.

And apparently, at some point along the way, he also wrote a comic book.

Because of course he did.

For Chuck, we're going all the way back to the beginning with his pick for favorite song: “Plush” by Stone Temple Pilots.

Why?

“Many, many moons ago, this was the very first song I ever learned on bass.”

And honestly, that's a pretty great origin story.

So here's Chuck doing what Chuck does, with a little help from David, who stepped up to the mic for “Plush” at one of our shows. 🎙️

There are a lot of layers to this guy. We're still finding them. And we're pretty sure there are more. 😂

The road trip is officially in the rearview mirror, and we’ve got this view from the cabin. 👀
