What you didn’t see before the anthem… 😂🎶⚾️

Getting the Durham Community Chorale ready to sing the National Anthem at DBAP involved a little rehearsing, a LOT of laughing, a few camera ambushes… and the exact moment our VP had enough of the social media coordinator. 👀😂

And we hadn’t even made it to the field yet.

Part 2 tomorrow… let’s just say Mother Nature had plans of her own. 🌧️😂

A proud night for the Durham Community Chorale at the DBAP! 🎶⚾️

Under the direction of our Artistic Director, Melody Zentner, we were honored to perform the National Anthem as Durham Bulls Baseball Club celebrated Hockey Night with the reigning 2026 Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes! 🏆🏒 And, of course, Stormy brought plenty of Canes energy to the ballpark!

Thank you, Durham Bulls, for this unforgettable opportunity—and congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes!

Today, the Durham Community Chorale joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the first responders, survivors, families, and communities forever changed.

As singers, we understand the power of voices joined together. Today, we also honor the power of silence, remembrance, and unity.

Twenty-five years later, we will never forget. 🇺🇸

What a wonderful day of music, fellowship, and community!

Several members of the Durham Community Chorale participated in the Durham Community Sing hosted by the Choral Society of Durham. Singers and listeners from across our community gathered to share in something that feels increasingly valuable: the simple act of coming together through music.

One of the pieces we sang featured words by poet Wilfred Owen:

“When each proud fighter brags they war on death, for life—not men, for flags.”

Those words served as a thoughtful reminder that our common humanity is often more important than the things that divide us. Choral singing has a remarkable way of building connections, fostering understanding, and creating moments of shared purpose among people who may have never met before.

We are thankful for opportunities like this to learn from one another, make new musical connections, and celebrate the power of singing together.

A heartfelt thank-you to the Choral Society of Durham for organizing another successful Durham Community Sing and to everyone who participated. We left inspired, energized, and reminded of why community music matters.

Thank you for sharing Voices of Light with us. ✨

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, supported, performed, volunteered, donated, and helped make yesterday’s concert such a meaningful experience.

This program explored hope, love, resilience, community, and light — and it was a joy to share that music together in such a warm and supportive room.

To our singers, director, accompanist, musicians, volunteers, Temple Baptist Church, and our wonderful audience: thank you for being part of this special afternoon.

We’re already looking forward to the next season with the Durham Community Chorale. 💛
