We are so thrilled to introduce Studio Maypop’s first Resident Artist, Amy Deystone Amy Deystone!

Amy Deystone took her first ceramics course in high school and fell in love. She received a BFA in Ceramic Sculpture and after an extended hiatus, she found her way back into the studio. Amy moved back to the triangle a few years ago from Colorado and where she is currently a member artist at FRANK Gallery and a member of the Orange County Artists’ Guild. Amy creates functional and sculptural ceramics in her studio practice. She explores elevating everyday objects into art pieces while still focusing on function. She obsesses over forms, texture, and the perfect mug handle. She thinks about weaving the human emotional experience into her work to keep us all from feeling too alone. Amy believes that having art and using handmade objects can change you.

Stop by today 3-6, Friday 1-6, or Saturday 10-1 to see her work in person and bring a piece home.

Welcome, Amy!

The gallery will be filled with pottery, prints, and jewelry as usual, so come browse, sip a glass of w**e, and talk flowers with Jeanine.

It’s maypop season! Stop by the studio today until 6, check out some pots, and sample our namesake fruit.

Maypop is the colloquial name for the native passion fruits that grow here in North Carolina. They have stunning flowers (echoed in this bowl), and the fruit tastes sort of like a tropical passion fruit mixed with an apple. They grow as abundant spreading vines.
