INTRODUCING BOOTYMASTERS VOL.I, a love letter to the sweat-soaked lineage of music made for throwing ass, brought to you by Sonic Essence in collaboration with S*x Party! 🎉

We’re tapping into the energy of a 90s Miami club night and tracing the b***y bass lineage outward: Miami bass, funk carioca, teknobass, ghettotech, Atlanta b***y, electro, breaks, and beyond. Fast, freaky, low-end music all night, sure to keep you on your feet. Let’s get nasty 😈

We’ve always been serious about throwing ass… that’s why for the first time ever we are doing a twerk competition! Come flaunt your skills for a chance to win $50 and the title of BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I champion!

We are amped to feature Spell, who is joining us from Asheville and bringing firsthand energy from her time in the Miami circuit, alongside a lineup ready to keep the pressure on.

Come loose. Come loud. Come ready to sweat. 🍑🔊

$10 all night long at Pinhook, doors 8 PM, music 9 PM.

Last but not least we have Isabel Essence representing the Sonic Essence crew this Friday at BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I!

ABOUT ISABEL: Lowkey tired of copying that long ass bio, but most importantly you should know she is a proud Michigander that stays true to her roots by maintaining a ghettotech ethos throughout all of her genre-agnostic soundscape alchemy. Wtf does that even mean, you ask? This Friday it means taking classic Miami Bass tracks and speeding that s**t up 20 bpm, coasting at high altitudes in the 140 BPM range, prioritizing thundering bass and hard hitting drums, and overlaying complex rhythmic patterns on top of vocal tracks that make you wanna bounce! 🍑🤩

Ghettotech has a strong historic tie to Miami Bass, and you’ll hear some of that throughout the night, along with all of her current fave club tracks representing her fave producers across eras! This Michigan transplant has been a steady active participant of the local music scene since moving to Durham in 2019 (officially joining the DJ circuit in 2021 and cofounding Sonic Essence with local heavyweights Ver & Von in 2022), and she’s not slowing down any time soon (& neither are we girl! More cool s**t in the works 😉)!Come find out why she has been called “the risk-taker I aspire to be” this Friday at BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I, her first time performing an RA PICK event (we aren’t gonna stop saying it 😏)!

Don’t forget this is also your opportunity to win the title of BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I TWERK CHAMPION, a sick ass trophy, and $50 cold hard cash! Get ready to WORK… start hydrating now 😈😏🔊

Introducing BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I co-host S*X PARTY! Yall had a blast with him and Dj Deyon at our Dirty South Juneteenth Celebration… now he’s back in the driver’s seat ready to blow the roof off this mf 🤯

We would give you a bio, but he doesn’t have one 😂 all you need to know is that his government name is Dewan, he loves techno, and he basically only comes out when he feels REALLY inspired to do so… so he must REALLY be serious about putting that ass in rotation this Friday 😏

If you joined us for Juneteenth, you already know what it is, if you didn’t, don’t miss the rare opportunity to find out what our good friend and ephemeral Durham native S*X PARTY is all about this Friday at this RA PICK event (can you tell we’re excited?)!

Start stretching now… you’re gonna need it 😩💦🍑

ABOUT SPELL: Spell is a vibrant genrefluid DJ born in Queens NY but raised in the 305. Known for crafting high energy sets rooted in a deep love for rhythm, culture, and community liberation. Every sets intention is to create a space where people can fully embrace themselves and each other whether it’s through sweat soaked dancefloors, sing along moments, or unexpected fun turns bringing an energy that everyone can let go and be present to.

They’ve played across Miami with collectives such as Witches of Miami, DISCOTECA, Perreo Del Futuro, Masisi, Call To Action, Hyper Miami, of course HYPERPERREO and many more! Spell has also taken the stage at festivals, including collaboration appearances at one of Miami’s favorites III Points and III Joints. Ready to bring the Miami heat to NC stages.

There can only be one. 🍑 This Friday we are hosting our FIRST-EVER twerk competition, and one person is walking away with the cash, the trophy, and the title of BOOTYMASTERS VOL. I Twerk Champion 💥😈

$50 cash is on the line, but more importantly: the crown, the title, and bragging rights as the reigning BOOTYMASTERS Twerk Champion until somebody comes to take it from you 👑

Do you have what it takes? 😏 The winner will be decided by the crowd, with all competitors hitting the floor at once. So don’t worry, you will not be up there twerking by yourself 🍑

IMPORTANT: As always, this is a safe space and consent is MANDATORY before you dance or lay hands on someone! We trust our audience to be respectful 🥰 but don’t play with us… we WILL kick you tf out (& ban you from future events) if you try to get handsy! Love y’all 💖

THANK YOU for another successful Future Footwerk 💕

We know this space is unique and fills a need in our community for those with a deep appreciation of footwork and those looking for environments that welcome styles of dance that require a lot of space. We loved seeing you take up space! It has also been fun to watch our core dancers evolve in their skill and style over time 👟🔥 We see you, and we appreciate you!

We look forward to continuing to grow with you all, and we are so humbled to be a part of your own personal journey, in whatever shape that takes 🦋💕

Social media is the least fun part of the work we do, but unfortunately necessary (for now?) to stay in contact with our growing community. This post is late af, but we wanted to make sure to celebrate Future Footwerk, thank you all for your presence in the spaces we make, and let you all know we are working on new programming… announcement coming soon! 😈🔥
