Duke Jewish Student Union (JSU) Duke's student-led Jewish undergraduate organization The Duke Jewish Student Union (or JSU) is Duke’s student-led Jewish undergraduate organization.

We work to build an inclusive Jewish community through fun, diverse, and engaging programming. Beyond our formal activities, we strive to create friendships across our community. JSU aspires to create exciting and diverse events. We host social, religious, cultural, and community service programs, and some of our most anticipated events every year are interfaith and multicultural programs. We’ve h

osted Latkepalooza in the ‘Dillo, kicked off the year with an ice cream party, organized our own Passover seders across campus, featured guests such as Dr. Ruth and Rabbi Alyssa Stanton, raised money for the Chordoma Foundation, and joined the Muslim Student Assocation for the Muslim-Jewish Iftar. Our membership comes from a variety of backgrounds and ideologies. JSU is a pluralistic organization, we do not align ourselves with a specific Jewish movement. Furthermore, all of our events are open to the entire Duke student body, which includes over 700 Jewish undergraduates.

We stand in solidarity with the Asian American community at Duke as we mourn the victims of the Atlanta massage parlor shootings. JSU is sending love and strength to our Asian American peers as we grieve, and as we stand together condemning hate and violence in all forms.

Please see the information in ASA's post below about a virtual vigil being held tonight:

We are saddened, frustrated, and angry with the news about Atlanta massage parlor shootings. We grieve with the families of the Asian women who have passed.

Our team will be working tonight to provide a reflection space and resources for our community. As we work, we want to remind ourselves to stay grounded despite isolation from our families and friends in shelter in place.

While we process, North Carolina Asian Americans Together and the UNC Asian American Center are holding a vigil in remembrance tonight at 7 pm EST. Register here: ncaatogether.org/vigil
