Tuesday was primary election day in Oklahoma..

Oklahomans said no to state question 832
which called for a gradual increase of the minimum wage

It currently sits at $7.25 an hour..
and was adopted in 2009 and it follows the federal minimum wage.

In the race for Governor,
Cyndi Munson easily won the democratic primary and will head to the general election awaiting the winner of a runoff between state attorney Getner Drummond and former state senator and wealth manager Mike Mazzei who were the top two vote getters.. on the crowded republican gubernatorial ballot.

The Lieutenant Governors race is now set
with yesterday's republican winner T-W Shannon to meet democrat Kelley Forbes who did not have a primary opponent.

In the US Senate, republican incumbent Kevin Hern was victorious and will face either democrat Jim Priest or N'ikyla Thomas in November

Also, in the US congress second district
Josh Brecheen, another republican incumbent won easily
and will face democrat Brandon Webb in the General Election.

In the Oklahoma House district 19,
there will be a republican runoff between Micheal Brittingham, who narrowly missed getting the majority of votes needed ,and Anthony Devore. The august winner will get the seat with no democrats filing.

In area county commissioner races.
in Bryan County district one,
Lance Billings defeated Richard Nix and Brandon Carr won handily over Josh Cross in district three

also winning republican county commissioner primaries yesterday were:
Johnston county- Mike Nibblett
Marshall County -Justin Ayres
Carter county- Berry Lee Brinkman
Choctaw County - Jerome Mick and Shane Miller
Coal County- Dee Hensley
Love County- Jason Tipton
and Mike Berryhill in Pushmataha county

There will be runoff elections for both contested county commissioner seats in Atoka county

Also In District 20, Republican James Gilmartin unseated incumbent district attorney Melissa Handke.
He becomes the DA with no democrats filing.
Finally, residents of Calera and Colbert approved OGE extensions

The election returns will be made official on Friday

🚧 Road Improvement Update 🚧

City crews will be returning to SE 8th Avenue, E. Arkansas Street, and E. Florida Street beginning Monday, June 15th, through Thursday, June 18th, to complete the asphalt overlay project.

Residents and motorists in the area should expect construction activity and possible temporary traffic disruptions while work is underway. We appreciate your patience as we continue making improvements to our city streets.
