To my cherished Creation family, I am pleased to announce the completion of the rug I was weaving. I hope this update finds everyone in good health and spirits. Wishing all mothers a Happy Mother's Day! Being a mother is a lifelong commitment, and for single parents, it can be particularly demanding. As a single mother to three sons, I have dedicated considerable time and effort to ensure their well-being, and with faith and my rug weaving skills providing a steady income, I am thriving. I feel blessed to have three wonderful sons and three nali boys in my life. Thank you for your kind words; I appreciate your family's enjoyment.

The Nlaka’pamux (known as the Thompson River people) are part of the Interior Salish cultural group whose ancestral homelands lie along the Thompson, Nicola, and Fraser Rivers in what is now southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Their culture has long been intertwined with these waterways🌊which sustained their communities for generations through fishing🎣, hunting, and gathering.

Highly skilled in utilizing the natural resources around them, Nlaka’pamux artisans created functional and beautiful baskets from cedar root, cherry bark, and beargrass. These baskets served a variety of everyday purposes while reflecting generations of knowledge and craftsmanship.

This example features an uncommon hexagonal form and displays wear consistent with age and use, giving us a glimpse into the practical artistry of the Thompson River people.

Klagetoh is right down the road from Ganado, AZ. It is no surprise that trader Juan Lorenzo Hubbell had some influence in this area. This weaving has the classic red🔴 with grey background. It measures 60”X 42”. That is 5 feet long by 3.5 feet wide. It was woven by Patsy Roanhorse. Available in our gallery. Very 😊 beautiful.
