“The Fireweed Meadow”
24x36 acrylic on wood

A whimsical interpretation of one of my most favorite views in the San Juans.

This one is heading to The 9318 Collective.

I promise that one day I will update my website 😂

Also, have you ever noticed how when you try to make your life easier it is pretty much a pain in the ass in the meantime? Or is that just me? 😂

I’m working on a sell and restock setup for this season at The 9318 Collective. Unfortunately this requires quite a bit of measuring and straight lines.

For the record, don’t EVER ask me if something is level 🤷‍♀️

What’s been happening in those short weeks, you ask? Allow me to fill you in…

I finished a tiny series called “The Sea”. Only calling it tiny because there are only three pieces. I stepped out of my comfort zone and submitted them to a gallery open call and wasn’t accepted. The success is that I actually submitted the application.

Strangely, I toured two historic cemeteries in two different hemispheres.

We celebrated my hubby’s birthday in Argentina. We bought art, it rained, he hunted, I wore camo, we consumed a ton of red meat and Malbec.

We came home and said goodbye to our sweet queen of the house.

And now, it’s work season. the9318collective opens for year SIX in a few short weeks. I’m busy getting her all shined up and restocked for the best season yet.

What have you been up to? 😂

Wanna know what I call this mess? My roadmap.

I’m working on something new and really different for me. I can already tell that this one might hang in our house ❤️

Stay tuned.

Excited to function like a human being in here instead of a hot, disorganized mess 🤣

The rug still makes me dizzy but it’s a fabulous paint catcher so it’ll stay for the time being.

Of course K2 is giving me the death stare because like most things in her life, this refresh was traumatic for her 😂

Remember that commission I started a few weeks ago and abandoned the color palette? Getting back in the groove there and feeling this one so much more!

Do you know how long it takes to get paint delivered to the middle of nowhere? 😂🤦‍♀️

Working on a few mockups this week that are for the clients eyes only, sharing my process here is fun too though :)

And yes I am 100% painting in my wool slippers. It was -16 here this morning 🥶

Week one of color theory ✔️

Aside from the subject matter, what else do these 12 renditions have in common?

Every single color was made with a combination of three primaries plus white.

Crazy, right? This also provides color harmony throughout the entire piece. Looking forward to week two 💪

Color theory continues.

If you’ve been around for the past few years, you might remember that I dedicate the majority of my winter to learning something new.

I dipped my toe into color theory in 2025, this year I’m diving head first. I’m starting to feel like Happy Gilmore when he learned how to putt 🤣🤣🤣

Clearly K2 is also quite captivated with the current situation 🐾😂🐾

When it’s 16 degrees outside and you’re waiting for your husband to drive home from Mexico, why not practice some color theory?
