Nintendo surprised gamers today with the announcement of a Star Fox remaster for the Nintendo Switch 2. The new title beautifully recreates the beloved N64 game. Star Fox 64 famously launched with the rumble pack, which was revolutionary at the time. I was sent a promo tape for the game with my Nintendo Power subscription, and I shamelessly watch it like 100 times in anticipation. What was the first Star Fox game you played?

I’ll never forget the day my brothers and I rented Star Tropics for the NES. After progressing pretty far in the game, there was a puzzle we could never figure out. Frustrated, we retuned the game to Plaza Video and later received the game as a present for Christmas. To my surprise, there was a piece of paper packed into the game that contained a secret note. If you rubbed a little water on the message it revealed the secret code, letting gamers complete the final puzzle and beat the game. As a six-year-old I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Star Tropics released on December 1st 1990. - George
