They’re great!! I grew up hearing Tony the Tiger shout that about Frosted Flakes. Now I really like Frosted Flakes, and they may taste great, but they aren’t exactly great for you. Research on rats has found that sugar is more addictive than opioid drugs such as co***ne. Now I don’t want to do a devotion on nutrition, but the point is that we can crave things that are really bad for us.
When it comes to temptation, it can be the same. The sinful things we are tempted to do may seem so good, sweet, and desirable, but in reality, they are very bad for us. Not only that, sinful behavior can be highly addictive, and you will find yourself in a life of sin you never thought you would be capable of. Now, with Frosted Flakes, you could eat some in moderation, but when it comes to sin, God’s solution is to resist sin and flee from the very appearance of evil. You can’t sin in moderation and be okay. Now, with sugary foods, use discretion, but even though Satan is shouting “It’s Great!” stay away from sin. If you are already addicted, good news. God said that if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive them, so deal with them now and begin anew with the Lord. He is always waiting to hear from you.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
James 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
Galatians 5:16 But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
1 Corinthians 6:18-20 Flee from sexual immorality. Every other sin a person commits is outside the body, but the sexually immoral person sins against his own body. Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
