Charleston Music and Arts Collective (CMAC) was born out of the mission to bring an all ages music and arts institution to the Kanawha Valley. The past three years have seen many peaks and valleys along our journey. We have shed tears of joy and pain as we have fought to overcome a multitude of impediments. COVID-19 has wreaked havoc on many small venues and non profits. The inability to recruit v
olunteers during a pandemic, to hold in person fund raising events, and have actual concerts have had a devastating impact on arts and entertainment across our country and the world. Rent continues to be due and there is very limited incoming funds. None of us have a bank roll or a trust fund. After many hours of deliberation and heartfelt consideration, CMAC cannot continue its current work at The Spire. Instead of continuing to pay rent for a space we cannot currently use, we will be stockpiling resources and funds to use when the pandemic passes. As we position ourselves to be better suited financially and materially, we will come out of this strongly situated to ultimately achieve our goals.
