Something new and old at Wussow's Concert Cafe tonight, Thursday, September 3 at 6 PM.
The Upper Midwest Folk Fiddlers are based out of St. Paul, Moorhead and Duluth, Minnesota. They teach, preserve and perform the fiddle music of the early immigrants of the Upper Midwest. This music is based on years of research by Minnesota State Arts Board grant recipient and musician “Clawhammer” Mike Sawyer. The group meets weekly and plays from the Upper Midwest Folk Fiddlers Tunebook, which features 137 tunes transcribed from early fiddlers in the region. They have performed their music at venues like the Tapestry Folkdance Center in Minneapolis and the Minnesota State Fair.
