It was a "Perfect Day" at the Dubuque Arboretum yesterday for their 2026 Artistry in the Park event. It was a blast meeting new people, answering questions about my art, and even making some sales. One of my originals, my 5x7 "Skull Study," (a black & white ink pen stippling study in a vintage gold frame) has now found itself a new home. Thank you to all who were able to come out and support local art, artists, and the and Botanical Gardens!!! 🙏 🙌

DBQfest DBQfest | Iowa’s Oldest Art Fair & Festival is THIS WEEKEND, Y'ALL!! 📢

Spent today getting myself prepared for the weekend! Be sure to stop downtown tomorrow and/or Sunday for ‼️ The hours on Saturday have the events running from 10a-5p and 10a-4p TODAY!! They will have live music and entertainment all day, pleanty of food trucks, fun family activities, and artist's galore will be about slinging their wares, how much fun is that!? 😁

NEW, freshly released MERCH - lots of unseen and never before shared orignal sketches straight from my sketchbook itself! Available in sizes 5.5"×8.5", 7"x10", and 11"×14". Prices for these originals range from $5-$45 (plus there's a 2 pack and a 3 pack option available at a discount when purchasing them as a set). Pricing is based on the paper size and artistic complexity. Also available will be my current glycee prints, remaining limited run prints, a variety of framed prints, sleeved sketchbook originals, framed and unframed sketches and other original work at a larger scale of complexity (acrylics, oils, mixed media, etc). And of course, I will have a nice selection of greeting cards available to puruse put out with my remaining stock of stickers. All stickers are water-resistant and most are holographic. Stickers range from $3-$5 each. And finally, I will be running a "DBQfest" Special Deal on greeting cards this weekend only: now only $5 each or THREE for $12, a new sale ONLY for DBQfest!!

When you wake up randomly at 5a and can't get back to sleep, you pull out your sketchbook and spend the morning trying to finish a sketch from earlier this year started in a class at the Bluff Strokes Art Center 😅

That is, until your brush pen starts running out of ink... 😬😬

What do we think, will this one be worthy of prints? 🤔

If you are local to the Des Moines area, PLEASE consider attending this INCREDIBLE event!! I will be here as an art vendor and a spoken word performer. This will be my 3rd year attending the festival and I CAN NOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS about this event! This program is put on by such amazing people who are forging the path forward for transgender people. I know they help by spreading the word and helping people to find and apply for the Iowa Trans Mutual Aid Fund, and post when there is local help with name and gender marker changes. This is an event for and about transgender artists, it focuses on a highly oppressed class of people and the artwork that comes out of that. Seeing all of the people there, both the artists and those in attendance. It moves me to feel like I am not as alone as I sometimes feel I am. I am so excited for next weekend, I hope to see a big crowd as well as many of you there!

A recent tiny value study (6"×6" on canvas panel), done while taking a weekend course at hosted by .art in Dubuque, Iowa.

Hector was an amazing instructor. This was my second class under him and I am forever impressed. 👏
