Pet portrait tattoos are about who you love. 🐾
I've seen pet portraits become increasingly popular, and I completely understand why. There are so many beautiful ways to turn the memory of a beloved companion into permanent artwork—from simple silhouettes and symbolic pieces to detailed, realistic portraits.
Realistic pet portraiture is one of my favorite forms of realism because the goal isn't simply to recreate a photograph. It's to capture the expression, personality, and little details that make your animal unmistakably yours.

Sometimes the rescue goes both ways. 🐾
My client rescued her cat, but she told me she also feels like her cat rescued her.
And honestly, I love that idea.
A pet can become so much more than a companion.
For this tattoo, we paired her cat's portrait with colorful pink and blue forget-me-nots to create something that feels as joyful and personal as their relationship.
A beautiful reminder that sometimes, the ones we think we're saving end up saving us right back. 💙

At what point does a tattoo stop feeling new and start feeling like part of you?
I think something changes when you begin decorating your body over time.
At first, you notice every tattoo. You look at it constantly. You admire it in the mirror, show it to your friends, and still can't quite believe that it's permanently part of your body.
Then, somewhere along the way, it becomes familiar.
You stop seeing it as something on your body and start seeing it as part of your body.
For some of us, our tattoos become part of our identity. The way we recognize ourselves. The way we express ourselves. The art we choose to carry into the world every day.
Years ago, this arm started with just a few flowers and a clock.
Now, it's a full sleeve.
And I can't help but wonder if that's part of the reason so many people continue their tattoo journey. Once you discover how it feels to see yourself decorated in a way that feels completely right... sometimes it's hard to imagine going back. ✨

We decorate our bodies because beauty matters to us.
Maybe that's one of the reasons tattoos have become such a powerful form of self-expression.
We surround ourselves with beauty when we can. We hang art on our walls, fill our homes with things we love, wear jewelry, choose colors, decorate spaces, and make things our own.
So why wouldn't we do the same with our bodies?
A tattoo can hold meaning, tell a story, or simply exist because you find it beautiful. I don't think we need to justify the desire to decorate ourselves.
Our bodies are the one place we live every single day.
Why not make them beautiful to us? ✨

It started with one small tattoo.
A few flowers. A clock. A little space left open around it.
Years later? The entire arm is covered. ✨
People often joke that tattoos are “addictive,” but I don't think that's the right word.
I think the first tattoo is simply the biggest unknown.
You've heard they hurt. You wonder how it will feel. You question whether you'll regret a permanent decision. There are so many things to think about before that first appointment.
But then you do it.
You realize the experience isn't quite as scary as you imagined. You get to see what it's like to live with art on your body. And for many people, something clicks.
The fear is gone.
From there, it's easier to thoughtfully decide what you want next and how you want to continue decorating your body.
One tattoo didn't create an addiction.
It simply opened the door to a new way of seeing yourself. ❤️

For centuries, Lilith has been interpreted as a symbol of independence, equality, and refusing to be defined by someone else's expectations. Depending on the tradition, she's been portrayed as everything from a villain to a liberator—but one thing has remained constant: she's a figure of strength.
That's exactly why my client chose her.
After everything she's overcome, she wanted a tattoo that reflected resilience, self-worth, and the unwavering belief that she deserves to stand as an equal.
I loved bringing that vision to life by pairing elegant black and gray filigree with bold red poppies—creating a piece that feels both timeless and fiercely alive.
The most meaningful tattoos aren't just beautiful.

Stories from the Chair ✨
Some tattoos stay with me long after the session ends—not because of the artwork, but because of the person wearing it.
Over the past few years, I've had the privilege of tattooing this incredible client, and I've watched her face life's challenges with a level of resilience that continues to inspire me.
When she told me why she wanted Lilith, everything made sense.
This wasn't about mythology alone.
It was about creating a visual reminder of her own strength, independence, and the life she's fought to build.
With the help of numbing cream, we were able to spend the day focused on creating instead of simply getting through the discomfort. Those are my favorite kinds of sessions—the ones filled with conversation, laughter, reflection, and meaningful art.
Every time I look at this tattoo, I don't just see Lilith.
I see a woman who refused to let life define her.

One of the biggest misconceptions about tattooing is that my job is simply to copy what's in front of me.
It isn't.
Sometimes my job is knowing what not to copy.
This tattoo was inspired by a painting my client's wife created before she passed away. The painting was full of beautiful color, expressive brushstrokes, and so much personality.
But paintings and tattoos speak different languages.
Some facial proportions that work on canvas don't always translate well onto skin, especially if the goal is for the tattoo to remain beautiful for decades.
So instead of copying every detail exactly, I refined the anatomy while preserving the feeling, color palette, and painterly style that made her artwork so special.
The goal was never to recreate the painting.
It was to recreate the emotion.

Painterly tattoos have completely captured my heart.
I love the freedom of expressive brushstrokes, vibrant color, soft transitions, and creating tattoos that feel like they were painted directly onto the skin rather than simply tattooed.
This piece gave me the opportunity to lean into everything I love most about creating art—realism blended with expressive color, intentional exaggeration, and movement.
It's a style I'd love to continue exploring, and I'd be thrilled to create more projects like this for clients who want something bold, artistic, and completely one of a kind.
