My dad, John Billstrom, passed away Saturday night. It was sudden, but peaceful. He was an amazingly chill guy who charmed folks with his singing, whistling and dry humor right up to the end. Absolutely nuts about my Mom for 64 years, father to 5 kids, and 9 grandkids.

A farm kid from Anoka, MN, he joined the army and studied Japanese & Korean at the Monterey Presideo. It was then he fell in love with driving the backroads of California in his 1953 Cadillac. He and his car are the subject of my utility box at the corner of Scarlett Road and Dublin Boulevard. Give it a wave for us when you pass by; we miss him so much already.
