Every year, without fail, I get messages from former students asking if I can help them land a wrangler job out on a ranch.
Here’s the hard truth: if you quit riding at age 12 and try to jump back into it at 20 wanting to wrangle, you simply don't have the skills.
Don't quit your lessons. Keep riding.
Ask yourself what's cooler? Running across open ground with a herd of 100 horses or sitting in a dugout playing softball? Dirt on your boots beats dirt on your cleats every single day of the week.
I’m still learning something new about horses every single day at my age. Horsemanship is a lifelong sport and there is no end point where you suddenly know it all.
If you want those cool, bucket-list wrangler jobs down the road, don’t trade in your saddle for a school sport you’ll stop playing the second you graduate high school. Stay in the saddle. Put in the time. The payoff is unmatched
