We wanted to give everyone a quick update regarding Southern Homestead Event Center.

Over the last month and half we had negotiated and reached an agreement with a couple to purchase the building. However, they had planned on turning it into something else and during the final process of finishing the legal work, they ultimately decided they were not ready to take on the commitment of changing it all, so the sale did not move forward.

With that being said — we are officially reopening bookings while the building remains listed for sale and we await the right buyer!

We are currently accepting bookings for the next 2–3 months out and would love to continue hosting your special events. The rest of May and all of June is very busy however there are still some openings available if you have a last minute event.

We truly appreciate everyone’s support throughout this process and look forward to continuing to serve our community. ❤️

Update on the sale of Southern Homestead Event Center:

We’ve officially reduced the price to $329,000 as of this week. Don't forget this includes a 9,000 sqft commercial building and 1340qft - 3bed 1bath rental home or you could even choose to live in it.

We’ve had solid interest and received a couple of offers so far, but nothing we’ve decided to move forward with just yet.

We do want to reiterate that we are still 100% open and accepting bookings, just within a few months out at a time in case the property sells and transitions into something new.

Thanks to everyone who came to our event over the weekend! We had yummy coffee, lots of great vendors, fun kids activities and of course, Gerald was a bit hit. We loved seeing all the sweet smiling faces of all the kids enjoying the day. We appreciate everyone coming out & hope you guys had as much fun as we did! 🐰

Happy Monday everyone! We hope everyone had a great weekend.

We know it's been a while since we posted but don't worry!! We are still actively hosting & booking events out until June (further dates depend on the possible sale of the business/building).

Here's a recent theme of a party held at the Event Center that was a big hit!!

We have officially listed the Event Center, building, and rental house for sale. If you’re interested in more information, you can reach out to us directly or contact Taylor Baker using the listing that has been shared.

Yes — we are still accepting bookings for 2026.

There has been some confusion about whether we are still open, and we want to clearly confirm that we are 100% open for bookings!

We are currently booking about 3–4 months out. This allows flexibility in the event the property sells quickly—we can set a closing date after all scheduled bookings are completed so no events are canceled. If the buyer chooses to continue operating it as an event center, bookings would simply transition to the new owner seamlessly.

The building, rental house, and grounds were fully commercially appraised in November 2025. While we are motivated sellers, we are not under pressure to sell, so please no low-ball offers. We are selling strictly because we are downsizing our woodworking business, which occupies only part of the building, and we no longer need a space this large.

This property would be perfect for someone who wants to continue the event center as-is or expand into the additional ~6,000 sq ft of unused space for endless possibilities.
The rental house is truly the cherry on top, providing consistent built-in income each year.

Bittersweet Announcement and long post to follow:

Southern Homestead Event Center will soon be going up for Sale.

After nearly a decade of building and growing three thriving small businesses, my family and I have made the heartfelt decision to put our cherished Southern Homestead Event Center up for sale here in Du Quoin. We are beyond grateful for the success we have achieved with this business but more importantly, we are choosing to prioritize our family's well-being. This will be a rare opportunity for someone to step into a business that is profitable right from the get go.

The event center will continue to operate as usual until it is sold, with all bookings remaining intact. If a new owner takes over, we will ensure a seamless transition for all current bookings throughout 2025.

As parents of two young children, we have come to realize that time with our loved ones is priceless and never guaranteed. No amount of professional success can replace the joy of family moments. We have prayed about this decision and are trusting that God will guide us on the path ahead.

We are excited for the future and are open to new possibilities, including exploring new ventures and transitioning to a more relaxed pace of life with our kids. Our other two businesses, Sassafras Woodworking and Simply Doughlicious, will continue to operate as normal as we focus in more on those. In fact, we are excited to also share that we are building a new shop at our home, which will allow us to focus on these passions while prioritizing more family time.

If you are passionate about continuing the legacy of Southern Homestead Event Center, we would love to discuss selling the business as a whole. Alternatively, if you have a vision for a different type of venture, we might be open to selling just the building and the rental house behind it. We are excited to explore options with someone who shares our passion for this special place.

If you are interested in learning more about this opportunity, please do not hesitate to reach out. We still have a few loose ends to wrap up and we need an appraisal still to look in a price point but we are mainly putting the feelers out there for anyone interested.
