Due to a cancellation, I have ONE opening in my "Pastel Painting: Where Land & Water Meet" (wetlands) workshop through Cable Natural History Museum. It will take place this coming Wednesday, June 3rd, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at their Wake Robin Pavilion on Randysek Road, just .4 miles off of County Hwy M. At this late a date you would need to phone the museum at 715-798-3890 to sign up. They will share your name and email address with me so I may email you the welcome letter and another initial email I had sent out with lots of info about the pastel medium. There is a supply list. The description: $45 member/$55 non-member.
Use your own color photos of wetland landscapes as inspiration to create unique pastel paintings on paper. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Museum, you’ll explore the art elements of value, color, and texture in your composition as you interpret the landscape, creating the illusion of three-dimensional space on a flat paper surface. The instructor, professional artist Diana Randolph of Once in a Blue Moon Studio, will demonstrate these concepts. You’ll practice many pastel painting techniques by layering pigment on various types of pastel paper. You’ll have the opportunity to view the Museum’s current exhibit, The Wetland Way after class. The suggested supply list is available at the museum’s website.

Last night I shared two of my poems, "Filled to the Brim" and "Contemporary Cowgirl" at the open mike at The Portage in Cable, WI. My poems had the theme of different jobs/tasks. Special thanks to the host, Tony Signorelli, to The Portage, and to the many performers. The event lasted at least 2 and a half hours. Each performer had 7 minutes maximum on stage. Kelly was the photographer. Nice to see many friends there. The NEXT open mike at The Portage will be Wednesday, June 24th, 6 p.m. Arrive early to sign up if you want to perform.

If you haven't yet seen the HOT HOT Pink art exhibit at Art Beat of Hayward, it's still on display. Artists will pick up their works on Friday, May 29 and Saturday, May 30. The show has been up all month. I highly recommend it. They are open 11 to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. They are located at 15845 W. 2nd St. in downtown Hayward. My pastel painting, "Petunia Pride" is included, along with numerous works of many different media. So many talented artists are in our region.
