DSSF 2026 SONGWRITER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Tim Styles - Tim Styles is a modern-day troubadour. Born and raised in the arrowhead range of northern Minnesota, his music captures his down-to-earth straightforward upbringing. He has released five albums of original music and has played some of the most iconic venues in the United States, Including the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN and The Whiskey a Go-Go in Hollywood, CA. When Tim isn’t touring, he resides on 40-acre ranch in rural New Mexico, where he and his wife raise Alpacas. The quality and content of his songwriting let the listener into a world where following your dreams isn’t make-believe – it’s necessary.

Andy Sydow - Americana, rock, folk, singer-songwriter, Andy Sydow is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist whose lyrics paint a picture of poetic realism. Touring consistently both solo and with a backing band, Sydow is known to sway an audience with acoustic guitar ballads, sing a few numbers on his lap steel, and even sit down at the keys to show off his surprising boogie-woogie piano chops. He draws comparisons to voices like Paul Simon and Jackson Browne, mixed with a roots rock vibe reminiscent of Tom Petty or Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats.

DSSF 2026 SONGWRITER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Charlie Shafter - Shafter’s January 2026 release of SAFARI hits multiple feelings and facets of life at once. Prelude, Amsterdam, MO, and Epilogue, immerse you in another world that makes you feel as though you’re watching a Cohen Brothers film, and Raton Pass immediately transports you into a truck traveling down a long stretch of highway solo, windows down, and heading into the sunset all while contemplating the existence of anything and everything. Chicago in Fall pulls you into that big midwestern city deep enough to make you feel like you’ve lived there, and Peak in Your Eye leaves you experiencing every feeling possible of a Colorado music festival.

Hannah Stokes - Hannah Stokes is an Orlando based singer-songwriter and jazz vocalist whose music flows between folk, R&B, soul, and jazz, offering a space where raw feeling meets timeless groove. With a voice both sultry and serene, she writes with lyrical precision and emotional clarity, crafting songs quietly arresting in their honesty and warmth. Rooted in a love of artists like Joni Mitchel, Lianne La Havas, and Norah Jones, Hannah’s style is fluid, intimate, and unafraid to sit in the complexities of love, time, and identity.

Dolly Parton was an incredible singer, songwriter, actor, and philanthropist. Her impact on singer-songwriters everywhere can't be overstated, and her impact on the world at large is truly incalculable.

"As a songwriter, I am influenced by everything around me- by the people around me, by the feelings of people I know, and by my own joys and sorrows. In my songs, I've touched a whole lot of subjects... I write a lot from my own heart."

“Nothing’s ever easy. If it is, it ain’t worth it.”

“If you see someone without a smile give them yours.”

“I refuse to settle for something less than great. And if it takes a lifetime, then that’s how long I’ll wait.”

“Dream more, learn more, care more, and be more.”

From her music to her love for humanity, Dolly Parton dazzled. We feel honored to have lived in the same world as her. Dolly, we hope you rest peacefully and we thank you for all you've done for us. You're a light and an icon and you will be dearly, dearly missed.

to raucous, bluesy bottleneck slide.

Michelleraybournmusic - In her recent release on February 28th, 2025, “Natural Disaster”, Michelle works to bring her worlds together of family, faith, and folk music, exploring the landscape of womanhood, making sense of the harm that has been handed down, and finding healing for the wounds of being a human in the world. She hopes that these songs can be a gift to those who listen to her words, as they have been to her in getting to sit with and write.

DSSF 2026 SONGWRITER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Rachel Laven - Award winning songwriter, Rachel Laven performs a blend of Texas Folk and Americana
music. A positive force of nature on stage, Laven captivates with her smiling lyricism
and her electric vocals. True to the Texas songwriting tradition, Laven is an earnest
observer. She is able to sing her truths without weighing them down with unnecessary
words or flowery nuances. This economical ability to perform complex humanity in a
clear headed way is what sets her apart as an artist.

Will Overman - Restless by nature, a traveler with a poet’s eye for mountains but a working man’s taste for road food, Overman’s always on the move. He comes by it naturally. That’s because Overman spent his formative years as a child of two worlds. Summer surf sessions in Virginia Beach gave way to fall backpacking expeditions in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Rinse, wash, repeat. Sunscreen and fly rods, flip flops and hiking boots. Two different landscapes. Two different soundtracks. Rock and pop where water meets earth, bluegrass and folk where trees meet the sky. Somewhere in between, maybe on the interstate between Virginia’s edges and its heart, that’s where the country music is.

Stay tuned as we go through the full lineup and get excited for this year's fest in Dripping Springs, TX from October 16-18. We can't wait to see you there!

DSSF 2026 SONGWRITER ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Sara Jean Kelley - A lover of wild things— plants, animals, people, and music— Nashville native Sara Jean Kelley crafts songs that combine upbeat, pop-inspired country hooks with thoughtful, often philosophical lyrical themes that explore our human connection to the natural world. Due to her dark sensibility and slightly melancholic sense of humor, Kelley’s particular brand of alternative country is multidimensional, with one foot firmly rooted in her Nashville Country/Americana background, another foot exploring the realms of alternative rock, rock and roll, pop, and even hip hop influences. Her voice, at times husky, dark and sultry, at times floating light-as-a-feather, has been compared to celebrated female country stars Brandi Carlisle, Patty Griffin, and Lucinda Williams.

Madeleine Kelson - Madeleine Kelson is a Nashville based Americana artist. She pulls from a rich tradition of Folk, Country, and Americana, challenging its boundaries as a q***r artist to represent the modern world. In 2022, Madeleine released her debut, self-produced album, While I Was Away, on Olivia Records. Since its release she has gained praise from No Depression, been featured multiple times in NPR, and was a finalist in the prestigious Kerrville New Folk songwriting competition. Her q***r country anthem, The Way I Do, became a viral TikTok hit with over 1.7 million views. Madeleine has been featured on Spotify editorial playlists including Q***r as Folk, Emerging Americana, and Fresh Finds Folk. Her new EP, Where the Spirit Meets the Muscle, was released in February 2024.
