How is it the last day of August and fall is just around the corner? I’m not ready to let go of summer, so I’ll just keep on painting photos of my daughter from vacation in Maine earlier this month, thanks. What a difference a year makes - last year we were trying to keep her from eating sand, this year we played in the sand and ran after the waves and seagulls together.

Hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of my solo show at Concord Free Public Library! The month has gone by so fast and I’m so appreciative of the kind words and sentiments shared by friends and visitors seeing my work for the first time. What an incredible experience this has been, and now I have my sights set on what’s coming down the road next 😉

Thank you to everyone who came out to the opening reception this past weekend! I was touched with the turnout of so many familiar faces and meetings new ones, and hearing stories about the places and memories that my paintings brought back was incredibly meaningful.

It was hot, I was sweaty, but my solo show went up yesterday at The Munroe Gallery at Concord Free Public Library! The show officially opens on Monday, July 6 and I can’t wait for the reception on Saturday, July 11 from 2-4. Words can’t describe the feeling I had yesterday seeing all of my work over the last eight months hanging in this space, and I never would have thought I’d be at this point in my painting career when I started painting over six years ago 🥳

I’m excited (and a little nervous!) to announce that my first solo art exhibition, “Summer Memories,” opens on July 6 at the Munroe Gallery at the Concord Free Public Library in Concord, MA!

The paintings in the collection are from photos of places that hold deep personal meaning for me during a season that I look back on fondly over the years. Much of this work comes from a desire to hold on to what time tries to take. As life changes, and as I navigate both raising my young daughter and the reality of aging family, painting has become a way of staying present and paying closer attention to the moments that matter. Each painting is connected to a moment in time I still remember vividly over the last few years that I wanted to preserve and share.

This has been a labor of love over the last 8 months and I hope you can make the opening reception on July 11, I’d love to see you there!

A small section of the very last painting complete for my upcoming solo show, opening July 6 at the Munroe Gallery at the ! It’s wild to think of how many paintings I’ve worked on for this show since last October, but the hardest part was narrowing down my ideas to the ones that felt the most meaningful and worked best together.

The woman in this painting is actually my sister-in-law a few years ago when our family was on vacation at Ogunquit Beach. She bought a kite to fly that day and I knew she’d make a perfect painting subject with the ocean in the background and her white coverup and floppy hat!

One thing (ok maybe two) I’ve learned in preparing for my first solo show is being patient with the process and calling time out when things aren’t working. I put this 16x16 painting to the side about a month ago when I first started the block-in, thinking it wasn’t turning out that great and recognizing that my heart wasn’t in it and I wanted to paint something else. I put it to the side, pivoted, and painted a piece that’s now one of my best for my show. I started looking at this again this week, looking at it with fresh eyes and realizing there’s some potential here that I want to pursue, so I’m back at it. The second photo is a new painting that I promptly put in “time out” this morning that I may or may not come back to in a few weeks. Practicing kindness towards oneself isn’t always the easiest thing! But sometimes giving a little distance, time away, and a new perspective helps.
