I have a big birthday next month (yes, I’m turning 30 again 😉 🤫) and when thinking about what I wanted for my birthday, it was a no-brainer: travel for a week-long painting workshop in Tucson, AZ with . Tucson is a special place for me, I used to have family out here and we’d visit my grandparents every summer when I was a kid. It’s been a long time (11 years?) since I was last here and it’s still as beautiful as I remember. What a joy it was to paint this stunning, yet tricky, landscape this week in new and familiar locations around the area! I learned so much and can’t wait to take some of my plein air studies and turn them into studio paintings. Keeping these warm memories fresh as I head back east to chilly Boston ❤️

A snippet from the current painting I’m working on of my parents a few years back. We used to go on a local garden tour every summer when I came home to visit, which was always so fun because you pretty much got to sneak around in people’s backyards, admire their flowers, and get ideas for what to plant back home. This was the last time I got to go with my parents before having my daughter and it’s nice to reminisce on the fun we had driving around that hot July day.

There’s more snow on the way this week and I’m longing for the warm days when we can go take a walk on The Marginal Way in Ogunquit, Maine.

This is an updated version of a smaller painting I created last summer (that sold!) - decided to paint this in a panoramic format and emphasize more of the light on the path with a moody sky and ocean.

Do you ever notice how sometimes the way the light falls just catches your eye and stops you in your tracks? That’s what happened to me late last summer when my family and I went walking in our favorite park close to home. The way the light cast shadows across the path and the nearby pond was stunning late that morning, and you could start to see and feel the changing of the seasons in the air.

My first painting of 2026! How could I resist painting Motif #1, the most painted building in America? Rockport was a favorite vacation destination with my parents when I was a kid before moving to New England as an adult. During the height of the pandemic in 2020, I took day-trips driving around Massachusetts looking for painting inspiration, and I remember taking the photo this painting was based off of during that hot August afternoon.

Another Christmas gift painting reveal! We do Secret Santa each year on my husband’s side of the family, and this year I got my brother-in-law. He liked an octopus I painted in my early days of watercolor years ago, so I thought I’d try painting an octopus in oil for his gift 🐙 this little 8x8 was so much fun to paint!

Been waiting to share this one for awhile now! 🤫 🥰 I knew this summer when we were on our first family vacation that this photo I took of my daughter and husband playing at the beach needed to be a painting. Was so excited to give this to my husband for Christmas!

4 days to go…my daughter frequently looks out the window at night to look at the Christmas lights in the front of the house (and we keep the blinds pulled up because toddler life). This is what our house must look like to our neighbors across the street after dinner time. She’s also been very into reading “The Night Before Christmas” at bedtime, so maybe she’s looking out onto the lawn, expecting Santa to be there.

This may be my favorite painting to date 😍 I really wanted to capture this moment swinging with my daughter at the playground last summer. She absolutely loves the swings and every time we would go for walks, the swings were a must. What is summertime without the playground, after all?

I’ve been having so much fun lately painting figures and learning how to mix skin tones and values. One of my goals is to start bringing more life into my paintings so they all aren’t empty landscapes.
