One of the biggest sci-fi spectacles of the ‘90s celebrates its 30th anniversary this year! Alien spaceships hover over major cities around the world with a mission to annihilate all of humankind over the Fourth of July weekend. It’s up to a ragtag group of disparate survivors — including an intelligent satellite technician, a brash fighter pilot, and the President of the United States — to strike back and take down this extraterrestrial threat. INDEPENDENCE DAY features thrilling set-pieces and a stacked cast that includes Bill Pullman, Jeff Goldblum and Will Smith in a breakout role.

A domestic thriller from the master of suspense, SUSPICION unites two of Hitchcock’s iconic actors: Cary Grant and Joan Fontaine. A shy heiress marries a charismatic man but soon suspects that he is plotting to murder her. A gripping work as can only be told by Alfred Hitchcock.

Tired of churning out fluffy comedies, a Hollywood director decides to write a serious, socially responsible film entitled “O Brother, Where Art Thou?” When his producers point out that he knows nothing of hardship, he hits the road as a hobo with an out-of-work actress. This delightful Sturges comedy is a blend of laughs, drama and Hollywood satire.

We have partnered with our friends to bring you a screening of MOMMIE DEAREST on June 19th at our nonprofit theater! Tickets are available now at countytheater.org/specials

About the Film: Frank Perry’s infamous 1981 biopic, based on the memoir by Christina Crawford, sets out in earnest to examine the darker side of screen legend Joan Crawford’s family life. The film’s legacy has become something quite different. It is now a camp classic, beloved for its unintentional hilarity, groan-inducing dialogue, and a flamboyant, overcommitted performance by Faye Dunaway that simply must be seen to be believed. So pull your coat off that wire hanger, and come pay a visit to MOMMIE.

Event Details: Doylestown welcomes the return of its Pride Festival on June 12-28th, 2026. With the goal of celebrating diverse sexual orientations and gender identities in the Doylestown community, a collection of local organizations and businesses came together to create this local tradition. This multi-day event will feature a series of film screenings at the County Theater, a Drag Brunch, the Pride Block Party, Music Day, and various pop-up events and celebrations throughout the community.

THE KING OF COMEDY plays tonight (June 2nd) on our big screen! Tickets are available at the box office or at countytheater.org/specials

This screening is also part of a Cinema Studies Seminar, your opportunity to learn more about the film while engaging with fellow students and the instructor. Seating for screening-only attendees will begin at 7:00 pm. Want to “just” see the movie? Purchase your tickets from the link above!

A failure upon release — but reappraised over time — THE KING OF COMEDY finds Robert DeNiro as a struggling comedian with delusional aspirations. His obsession with a successful late-night talk show host (played by Jerry Lewis) leads him to kidnap his idol and leverage him for a shot at fame. This satirical dark comedy from Martin Scorsese is a potent critique of our celebrity-obsessed society.

Support local nonprofit cinema with a screening of THE TRUMAN SHOW on June 11th! Tickets to the 4:15 & 7pm screenings are available now at countytheater.org/specials

THE TRUMAN SHOW stars Jim Carrey at the height of his ‘90s fame as he tones down his bombastic comedic style for a more nuanced and tender performance. Carrey plays Truman, an average suburban working man, whose life is upended when he begins to suspect that it is in fact one massively orchestrated TV show. This thought-provoking film is noteworthy for its satirical vision of the public’s 24/7 thirst for celebrity culture and “reality” television.

Each month, TCM writer Hannah Jack curates a film for our big screen and then, a few days after the screening, she leads a FREE Deep Focus Zoom Seminar on the film! This June, she has chosen QUEEN CHRISTINA, playing on June 7th. 𝐆𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐬 and see what other films are playing as part of our Deep Focus on Screen Series at countytheater.org/deepfocus

The great Greta Garbo steps into the pants of Sweden’s iconic Queen Christina in this queer-coded biopic from the pre-Code era. Racy for its time, the film follows Christina from her coronation through the end of her reign. There is no denying the camera loves Garbo, as does her on-screen partner (and real life ex-fiancé) John Gilbert and her off-camera, rumored paramour Salka Viertel, who penned a portion of the script.

We honor the 100th birthday of Mel Brooks by showcasing four films from his iconic oeuvre throughout the month of June! Join us on June 16th for HIGH ANXIETY. Tickets are available now at countytheater.org/specials

In this satirical take on the films of Alfred Hitchcock, Mel Brooks writes, directs and tackles his first speaking lead role. Brooks plays the new director of the Psychoneurotic Institute for the Very, Very Nervous. After a series of mysterious events causes him to be accused of murder, he attempts to clear his name as he battles bouts of “high anxiety.” This spot-on parody is an underseen gem in the master comedian’s oeuvre. Presented in a new restoration.
