It's been a Spring. Lots going on.
I got to work on something. An homage to Levi Strauss, coming soon.
Bara Bara opening this Friday night at Diamonte in Raleigh! Support an awesome organization. Lots of good, reasonably priced artwork.
Closing in Brooklyn, Unfinished Liberation. If you are there and have a chance to drop in it sounds like it will be a terrific, Jewish centered art event.
And my ankle is still sprained. I always stand when I work so that's annoying. But this too shall pass.

Super excited to have my work exhibited in Brooklyn! Even more excited that my NYC debut is at a gallery associated with Chabad. Sad that I'm missing the opening because I know that it will be heimish.

Shipped three paintings to Brooklyn for an exhibit

Here is the artist statement I sent with them. The exhibit opens 3/15

My work explores the choices Jews have faced since we placed our trust in HaShem and walked between walls of water toward freedom in the Exodus from Egypt. I use the structure of the Star of David to express the tension between revealed and hidden blessings in Jewish life. Some expressions of Jewish identity are quiet and beautiful, like lighting candles and gathering for Shabbat with family and friends. A strong connection to Eretz Yisrael is made chaotic by our fractured world, reminding us that the path toward liberation and freedom has never been simple.

Today I took a tour with my Hadassah friends, and Mom, of The Book of Esther in the Age of Rembrandt, led by Curator of European Art, Michele Fredrick. Excellent!! This is the last weekend to see this beautiful exhibit at NCMA. It has been an honor to be associated with it in the special exhibition gift shop.
PS "they" say we're supposed to put faces in our IG posts so I put in lots of faces.

I sat and looked at this painting for a month and didn't touch it and then yesterday I found some courage and ripped into it and finished it. It's a Sunset over the Blue Ridge Mountains but it's part of a series about Jewish time. This one is about the sun setting and bringing in Shabbat

The holiday of Purim is coming up. It's the holiday where Jewish people celebrate a story of our survival as told in the book of Esther. My work is up in the NCMA gift shop associated with the exhibit, the Book of Esther and the Age of Rembrandt, that closes on March 8th, right after Purim!
