If you wanted quality beats in the early 2000s, you either paid serious money or figured it out yourself.

That’s exactly what Dave Hates 808’s did. He and his friends needed instrumentals, so instead of waiting on someone else, he learned music production and started creating his own sound. Sometimes the biggest obstacle becomes the reason you discover your talent.

Quinton Prunty pulled up to the Valley of the Beats Open Aux at Grand Ave Records Konstadinos “DJ COCOE” Tsimahidis and brought nothing but boom bap. Soulful samples, hard drums, and an underground sound that reminds you why this style never goes out of fashion.

The craziest part? He put it all together on a tablet and had the room locked in.

He pulled up to Valley of the Beats Open Aux at Grand Ave Records Konstadinos “DJ COCOE” Tsimahidis and put on a performance that had producers locked in from the first drop. The creativity, the bounce, the sound selection… this is the type of talent that’s shaping the future of Arizona hip hop.
