Maxwell Alexander Gallery is proud to present Metaphors, a new solo showcase by Colorado artist David Grossmann, opening June 20th in Pasadena, CA. This marks Grossmann’s first exhibition with the gallery since March 2020, when his previous show opened just as the COVID-19 pandemic brought the art world and much of daily life to an unexpected standstill. Early Preview Available by Request!

A word from the artist, David Grossmann:

Metaphors



“The world that we live in and the world I long for are two very different places. Often I feel lost in the cracks between the two; wanting healing but finding myself entrenched in the fractures, reaching for hope and feeling weighed down by worry. Maybe art can be a bridge in these spaces where reality seems to collide with any vision for meaningful change.

Art is metaphor, giving language to describe the intangible, transferring meaning between seemingly unconnected things. At its best art can also be a link between disconnected points of view, an invitation to find common ground.

This is the place of possibility. As Emily Dickinson wrote:


I dwell in Possibility -

A fairer House than Prose -

More numerous of Windows -

Superior - for Doors -

Of Visitors, the fairest -

For Occupation, This -

The spreading wide my narrow Hands

To gather Paradise -


Art can be a landscape of shared imagination, shared possibility. These paintings are my metaphors of hope; they focus on my sense of longing, of searching and transition, of reaching for spaces where my inner and outer landscapes could both be rooted.”

Congratulations to on a very successful DECADE solo exhibition. The show is on display through June 6th, open to the public Friday’s and Saturday’s and anytime for collectors. Please note we will be closed on May 30th.

There is one remaining painting available from this exhibition. Visit our website or give us a call for info.

DECADE by opens tomorrow May 16, 2026 from 5-8pm in our Pasadena CA gallery.

The artist will be in attendance. Live interview conducted by Amy Scott of will begin at 5pm. It is open to the public and free to attend.

Catalogs, serigraphs, showcases, and of course the original paintings will all be available in store. If anything is remaining after the opening we will release it online next week.
