Mixed Media in Resin on Canvas

“Stronger” is a vibrant and empowering abstract portrait that merges the dynamic energy of comic books with the powerful image of a woman’s face. Bold colors swirl around her features, conveying strength, resilience, and determination. The comic book backdrop, filled with action-packed panels and dynamic typography, adds an element of narrative, suggesting that her story is one of triumph and perseverance. This striking piece celebrates the inner power and courage that define us, with a visual language that is both modern and heroic.

Life After Death
36” x 36”
Acrylic on Canvas
Cassandra Bohne-L

How can a desiccated tree produce such striking flowers in both form and color? The dry, barren landscape, scorched and in desperate need of moisture, has blackened the life-giving trunk of the tree and we can assume death. Yet it is evident that the tree has produced beautiful life. The artist has used the color blue for the floral bouquet because of its strong association with the spiritual world and its connection with wisdom and understanding. In this depiction of death and the afterlife we are left optimistic and hopeful.

BEADS AND ACRYLIC
24 X 36 INCHES
Toast is a joyful celebration of life, community, and personal triumph. The artwork features a woman raising a glass of wine. Set against a dynamic multicolored background, the scene is alive with energy and rhythm. Crafted entirely from tiny glass beads combined with acrylic paint, the piece shimmers with texture and color, transforming a simple moment into a vibrant mosaic of cultural richness. “Toast” embodies Buraimoh’s signature fusion of traditional Yoruba aesthetics with contemporary themes, capturing both the elegance of ritual and the vibrancy of everyday joy.

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Mini and I joined the Midtown Cultural Arts Bus Tour to explore the vibrant public art murals and historic landmarks that make Houston so unique.

Along the way, we also received a lesson in Houston’s rich history. It was the perfect combination of art, culture, and learning right here in our own city.

Romeo Robinson
Romeo enjoys connecting with people and finds the human condition—our problems, emotions, thoughts, and the ways we express and navigate them—to be fertile ground for endless creative exploration. Working primarily in mixed media, their present-day preferences include acrylic, charcoal, pastel, and collage. They describe their methodology as “controlled chaos,” defined as the manipulation of color, images, words, and phrases in a seemingly random manner to create narrative. These narratives explore the human condition, both its beauty and its challenges. Through painting, the artist seeks to understand what is happening in the world and why. Themes of particular interest include racism, immigration, self-worth and belonging in adolescence, and hunger. Their goal is to continue growing as an artist and to become ever more effective at telling these stories.

Romeo began their creative journey in New York City at the Germaine School of Photography in the late 1970s. After moving to Houston, they pursued studies at San Jacinto College in both legal assisting and art. A decade ago, they began classes at the MFAH Glassell School of Art and, in 2019, completed the Block program. Their work has been exhibited at the San Jacinto College Gallery, the San Jacinto College Library, various VAA exhibitions, Carolyn Garcia Gallery, the Houston City Wide African American Artists Exhibition, the Houston Museum of African American Culture, the gallery space at West Gray Dental, and at the NCV Wine facility.
The artist values the opportunity to share their work and to invite viewers into a deeper understanding of their creative practice.

Group Art Exhibition: The concept of freedom has been a fundamental aspect of human existence since the beginning of time. It is a complex and multifaceted idea that has inspired countless artists throughout history. An art exhibition representing the meaning of freedom is an opportunity to explore the many different ways in which this concept can be expressed and interpreted.

The D.R.E.A.M Affect Foundation’s mission is raising awareness of the underrepresentation of art students of color in higher learning institutions. We believe that every individual has the right to pursue their passion and creativity, regardless of their background.

Our goal is to create a platform for discussion and collaboration among students, educators, and institutions to address the systemic barriers that prevent minority students from accessing opportunities in the arts. We aim to empower and support these students in their pursuit of higher education, and to work towards a diverse and inclusive arts community. We believe that by amplifying the voices of underrepresented art students, we can create meaningful change and promote an equitable society. Keeping in step with our mission, The D.R.E.A.M. Affect Foundation will be donating a portion of all art sales to scholarships for minority art students.

Life is Golden
Craig The Artist
40 x 40
Digital Painting on Canvas
Life is Golden by Craig TheArtist Carter is a vibrant and dynamic abstract artwork that captures the essence of human experience through a cascade of bold, golden hues. The piece features a harmonious blend of swirling lines, geometric forms, and splashes of light, symbolizing the complexity of life and the beauty of its fleeting moments. Golden tones dominate the canvas, representing not just wealth or materialism, but a deeper, more spiritual resonance—the radiance of life’s potential and the pursuit of joy. Carter’s work invites the viewer to interpret the emotional and philosophical depths of existence, where chaos and order coexist, and where the mundane becomes extraordinary. The fluidity and texture of the composition evoke a sense of movement, signifying that life, in all its forms, is constantly evolving, yet always illuminated by the golden light of hope and possibility.
