Most people don’t realize May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
On May 22, 2024, my son Sampson Moore completed his mission here on earth. To many he was Sampson. To others he was Dredgen Whisper. To me, he will always be my baby boy.
As Mother’s Day approaches and his anniversary draws closer, I wanted to honor him in a way that felt personal, intentional, and full of love. This year I created this memorial installation for him myself — not just to remember him, but to speak for the ones who carried more than we knew.
Mental health does not always look broken.
Sometimes it looks like the strong friend.
The quiet one.
The one still smiling.
The one everyone thinks is okay.
If you still have your people, check on them. Sit with them. Listen longer. Love louder.
And to the mothers carrying invisible grief today — I see you. I stand with you. Some of us spend Mother’s Day holding memories instead of hands.
Whisper Sampson Moore
My love for you still stretches beyond the clouds, beyond the sky, beyond the stars and moon. I still wait to hear your voice again. I still look toward the door sometimes hoping you’ll walk back through it.
Forever loved. Forever carried. Forever my baby
