Meet Arnolds Andersons.

Working between Riga and London, Latvian artist Arnolds Andersons creates captivating paintings where light, color, and emotion take center stage.

Growing up as a gay man in post-Soviet Latvia, Andersons experienced the constraints and complexities of expressing his identity in a culture where homosexuality remains a divisive subject. His experiences continue to inform his work, which embraces male beauty, intimacy, and q***r identity with honesty and unapologetic confidence.

His latest paintings blend reality and surrealism, pairing expressive color with idealized figures and moments of quiet reflection. Each work invites us to look closer, not only at the figure, but at the emotions, stories, and sense of identity held within.

We’re delighted to welcome Andersons’ newest work to J. Petter Galleries. Join us for an exclusive evening with the artist on Friday, August 14, from 6–8 PM. Meet Arnolds, experience his latest work, and enjoy an intimate evening of art, conversation, and connection.
