The Cultural Arts Center is a non-profit organization established in May 2002 to connect the Arts to our Community. Housed in the old Southside Elementary School, the Center has been renovated to accommodate various arts and service organizations in the Wiregrass, providing a venue for talented artists to gather and perform. These organizations provide instruction in different areas of the arts, e

nriching the citizens of Dothan and the surrounding communities. The Center is home to the Southeast Alabama Community Theatre, the Tri-State Community Orchestra, and the Dothan Wiregrass Art League. The Center is partially funded by a grant from the Alabama State Arts Council marked to provide after school instruction in dance, piano, art, chorus, and strings to underserved children in the area. The Center has enriched more than 2,000 children to many different arts disciplines that are not currently available in the public and county school systems. Classes are always happening at the CAC so check out our website for details for adult and children's classes: www.theculturalartscenter.org

The Center is also available to rent for a variety of special events and receptions. A state-of-the-art wide screen projector was installed enabling The Center to provide our rental clients with audiovisual capabilities for events and receptions. The auditorium and banquet hall provides spacious areas for any special occasion at a reasonable price.

Please excuse my mistake! Kaitlin Simmons, a dancer in competition in Wiregrass Talent Quest Jr, is a senior at Dothan High School and as winner of the People's Choice Award, she chose to make her voice for the arts known by giving the check to Shane Perry, Theater Director for Dothan High School, where the money will be used to pay for fees and materials associated with next year's shows. Kaitlin did NOT give the money to Headland Elementary as previously posted.

It has been a fantastic year for Wiregrass Talent Quest Jr. and we have been blessed with 25 amazingly talented young artists who competed for prizes and a chance to give back to their school. We are proud of our overall winners and our category winners shown below, but all our contestants are winners in our hearts. This year's People's Choice Award winner was Kaitlin Simmons, a senior at Dothan High School, who performed in the dance category. Kaitlin raised the most money and 30% of the proceeds we were able to help her gift back to Dothan High School to be used in their theater department to pay for licensing fees and materials for their 2026-2027 productions. Accepting the gift was Shane Perry, Drama Instructor at Dothan High School. Kaitlin is leaving a legacy behind as she makes this gift as a Senior at DHS! Go Wolves!
