*WORK IN PROGRESS* My sweet girl is OBSESSED with Taylor Swift and frogs equally. Meanwhile my soul has been feeling brittle and dried out, and I realized that I haven’t been making art nearly as often as I’d like to be. Something I’m determined to remedy.

So tonight I blasted Taylor’s Eras Tour Playlist while I worked on this soon to be water color painting that will eventually be a Christmas present for my favorite girl. (She’d be quick to retort that’s she’s my ONLY daughter, but that’s where I’ll say, well yeah, but NOT my only GIRL… I also have a female feline and seven hens, all mine, all girls, but my daughter is absolutely my most favorite girl in the whole wide world.)

I was enchanted to meet her the day she was born, and it’s been enchanting to watch her grow from infant to toddler, to little sprite of a small child, and now she’s closing in on ten, and I’m just not ready for her to grow up. But I’ll blink and she’ll be running the world, or off on some big adventure, or perhaps quietly building her own bit of paradise on some plot of land that she can call her own.

Wherever life takes her, I know she’ll take it in stride, but I still don’t know how we got so lucky to have such awesome kids as her and her brothers. 💕

An artist is only as productive as their available studio space.

There have been years where I’ve had a whole room (thanks Honey) and years where I’ve had to make do with the kitchen table. And all the while, I’ve continued making art. Sometimes months would go by between pieces. Sometimes only days.

I may not be your typical “career artist”, but I am a lifelong artist. And to have a space as dedicated and delightful as my current one feels pretty good.

Took my girl for a mommy daughter date this morning while the boys (and my man of the hour - happy Father’s Day Honey!) stayed home to chill on the sun and read books or collect pine ones or whatever it is they did while we were gone.

Went to the most magical coffee house in all of DC: of course, and The Art Shed next door was open so we checked it out! AMAZING! Fantastic local artists, beyond reasonable pricing and a little space to creat your own piece if you feel so inspired. And that’s just what we did! 💕🙌👩‍🎨
