We are very grateful of all the enthusiasm everyone is showing about the news released on Positively Racing's page yesterday about Shiverfest. But we would like to ask everyone to be patient with us about what classes will be ran. Would we like to run all classes possible, yes. But unfortunately we want to run a fast and efficient event, and it would be impossible to do if we ran 12 classes. Once we have decided on the classes we will get it posted, and ask everyone to be respectful of our decisions.

When Darin decided to take over promoting Lee County Speedway i wasn't the biggest fan but its what he wanted to do and since he was semi retiring in January I figured it would give him something to do.
Boy did he ever have something to do.
It started out with the clean up. The pit concessions and the grand stand concessions needed lots of cleaning before we could even think about starting the year.
Thanks to family (our immediate family and our niece Amy Prim and her whole family and nephew Timmy Weisinger and his family) we got the clean up done.
Then Darin and Dave Jones set out to get sponsors for the year. We had so many good sponsors and we would have never survived without them. We appreciate their help so much.
Then all the signs on the property had to be replaced because they were all faded and worn. Our daughter just happens to own Victory Signs and co so away her went doing all the work to make the sponsor signs shiny and new again.
She also redone the pit parking signs and all of the other signs that needed replaced.
Then comes the liquor license, food license, insurance and working with imca to get that all lined out. Oh yeah we need internet and we need fuel and we need firetruck and ambulance and volunteers.
It takes an army let me tell you.
We had some amazing help. We had people fill in when someone needed the night off. Its hard to find enough people to cover every position. Thank you so much to everyone of the people that helped us make it through our 1st and last year of promoting.
With Darins health and the financial struggle to run a successful racetrack we have decided to step away. Friday August 21st was our season championship. Congratulations to all the winner over our time as promoters and to all of our track champions.
Thank you to all the fans who supported us all year. Mother nature didn't play fair but we had great fans when we were able to race.
We still plan on having a banquet to celebrate our track champions and the rest of the top ten. We will figure out all the details and let everyone know.
What Lee Ann said in her post pretty much sums it up.
We had drivers that supported us all year and we appreciate that so much. There is a small percent of drivers and fans that make it hard to be a promoter and oh did we find that out this year.
We will never take any track promoter for granted again.

Mother Nature must have heard us last week when we said we had never seen the grounds in worse condition and responded, “Hold my b**r.”

Unfortunately, after two straight days of storms and heavy rain throughout the area, track and facility conditions have deteriorated beyond the point of recovery. As a result, we are forced to cancel this week’s racing program.

Now, we’ll keep our fingers crossed for better weather and look forward to seeing everyone for Season Championship Night next week! 🏁

An Important Announcement Regarding the Future of Lee County Speedway

After much thought and consideration, the Weisinger family has made the difficult decision that the 2026 racing season will be our final season as promoters of Lee County Speedway.

This is not a decision that has been made lightly. This season has brought challenges both financially and personally, as health concerns have made the demands of operating the speedway increasingly difficult. After giving so much of ourselves to the track, we feel the time has come for our family to step away.

Friday, August 21st — Season Championship Night — will officially be the final race under the current promoters.

We are incredibly grateful to every driver, race team, sponsor, employee, volunteer, fan, and family who has supported Lee County Speedway during our time here. A racetrack is much more than the cars that take the green flag each week—it is a community of people, and we have been fortunate to share this experience with so many wonderful individuals.

There have been great nights, difficult nights, long hours, unforgettable races, and countless memories made along the way. We are proud of what we have accomplished and thankful for everyone who has been a part of it.

While closing this chapter is bittersweet, we know it is the right decision for our family.

We hope you will join us on August 21st for Season Championship Night as we celebrate the drivers, teams, fans, and everyone who has helped make Lee County Speedway special.

Unfortunately, we have to cancel tomorrow night's races. With 2.25 inches of rain yesterday and more rain in the forecast tomorrow, there's no way we'll be able to get everything dried out enough to race.

Hopefully Mother Nature cooperates, and we can get back to racing next weekend for the Iowa Corn Growers / Calvin Meyer Memorial Night on August 14th. We appreciate everyone's understanding and hope to see you all next weekend!
