Dolgeville Violet Festival

Dolgeville Violet Festival The Dolgeville Violet Festival is not just a one time event during the summer, but a year round effort by the residents of Dolgeville.

The Violet Festival preserves the historical aspects of the Village of Dolgeville through the use of innovative, artistic, and educational displays throughout the year. There is an emphasis on the communities’ rich horticultural history, which culminates with the annual Dolgeville Violet Festival the 2nd Friday, Saturday and Sunday of June each year. The Festival draws more than 75 vendors, 80 org

anizations that participate in the parade, and over 10,000 people to the Village during the three-day event. Violet Festival Committee meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month at 7 pm at Village Hall. Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to attend.

To begin, we would like to thank everyone for helping to make the 2026 Dolgeville Violet Festival happen this year, and for everyone coming out to support our event. Without you all, this would not be possible or enjoyable. We know that there were some challenges and changes this year, but everyone got together and made the best decisions that were available with what we had to work with.
For several years now we have stressed the need for more volunteers. Although, we have had some people reach out (and we appreciate you) it has not been enough to help take the burden off of the few committee members we have. For this reason we, Crystal Napier and Donald Hall, have decided to step away from the Dolgeville Violet Festival. This will include stepping down from our positions as President, Secretary, and Parade Directors. We know that the amount of work that we currently put into the festival is not sustainable by the two of us and this past year was a struggle to get everything done that was needed. We take great pride in the work we have done with the Dolgeville Violet Festival over the last 12 years. With the success of the 2026 Dolgeville Violet Festival, we would like to step down on a high note.

With that being said, there are a couple committee members who are willing to continue if positions are filled and they have enough volunteers for 2027. However, money also remains an issue. There is currently enough funds for one more year of the festival. With the lack of volunteers, there has also been a lack of fundraising and the fundraising we have had, has not been very successful. We encourage anyone who is interested in helping continue the festival to keep an eye out for the next meeting.

Thank you,
Crystal Napier & Donald Hall

There are a lot of comments regarding parking and traffic. I am one person and cannot keep up with everyone's questions while also trying to prepare for this weekend. Know that the decisions that have been made, have been made for a reason. I also ask that you look at posts from the last couple weeks before asking questions. Thank you! ~Crystal Napier
