HISTORY OF THE NORTH BRANC

H ART TRAIL

Created in 1994 by artist Brian Keeler, the original North Branch Art Trail (Northeastern Pennsylvania's first) flourished for 16 consecutive years under Keeler's guidance (as Art Trail founder & artistic director). As the Trail grew, it was bolstered by an annual event in Wyalusing, PA around Columbus Day that featured regional art exhibits, studio tours, a community festival, and even a triathlon. When Keeler moved out of state, the Art Trail's annual events were handed over to local organizations and the North Branch Art Trail itself ceased to exist. With Brian Keeler's blessing & support, the Kitson Arts Alliance reinstated the North Branch Art Trail by presenting the first of its North Branch Artisans Tours in the Summer of 2017. In keeping with the mission of the Kitson Arts Alliance, this updated version continued the original Trail's focus on art while broadening the focus to include local food & beverages, nature, history, community, river activities, local events of all sorts, and so on.

This Friday, we’re kicking off the Artists’ Open House Weekend 30th Anniversary Show with a special Opening Reception at Pink Arrow Arts Gallery in Montrose!

For three decades, Artists’ Open House Weekend has brought artists and the community together across Susquehanna County. This special exhibition celebrates that history with artwork from past and present AOHW artists.
